I think THE BENDS is their best album, simply because all the songs are
great to listen to! This was the album that reall got them noticed, where the critical recognition really started to pour in. Without this album, all the rest wouldn't have happened. My name is BISCUIT...and I am funky!

I live in Oxford and I often see Thom Yorke around town, usually taking his kid for a walk. He always looks pretty unaproachable and miserable though. What are the odds ?
Great band, though. [Edited 11/15/06 3:50am]

As a real fan, I have to reply to this topic. Every album (except Pablo Honey maybe) means very much to me and I have great memories of each creative period. But I´d still have to go with
But the fact that they managed not to disappoint with any of their albums after "OK Computer" until now is the real archievement that makes Radiohead one of the greatest bands of our time. [Edited 11/15/06 7:57am] See the man with the blue guitar, maybe one day he`ll be a star...

I always felt like Kid A and Amnesiac were two sides of the same album. The combination of them, looking at them as one work, would definitely be #1 for me.
There are a couple tracks on OK Computer that seem weak - Subterranean Homesick Alien and The Tourist in particular. On The Bends, every track is stellar, but it's high points aren't quite up to par with the high points of OK Computer. HTTT, brilliant as it is, is a half-notch behind for me. So it's hard to rank them... I've always had a soft-spot for Amnesiac, but - despite the couple weak links - OK Computer has their best individual songs. 1. OK Computer 2. The Bends 3. Amnesiac 4. Hail to the Thief 5. Kid A

But my favorite individual track is Everything in its Right Place… even though I have Kid A fifth I still adore it.....
All 5 are classics. | |

Radiohead's my favourite band. This is how I look at each of their albums, rating each one out of five:
Pablo Honey **1/2 Basically, this is your every day rock/punk album, unfocused and without a clear identity. Creep is fantastic, the rest is run of the mill (though never awful). The Bends ***** Song after song of melodic bliss. Nothing to skip on the entire record. Wonderful angst, urgency, and a sad sense of searching in every track. OK Computer ***** An utter masterpiece. There's no other way to describe it. Everything from the cold, futuristic, paranoid atmosphere to the heartwrenching hooks, to the surprisingly deep lyrics about the loss of humanity and the persistent feeling of helplessness resonate deeply. Perfectly put together album. Also, it's even better after you read 1984 and spot some of the similarities (most notably in tracks like Paranoid Android and Fitter, Happier). Kid A ***** Although its emotional heights rarely reach that of OKC, this album has a perfect cohesion to it overall. It's cold, detached, lonely, and gives the feeling of a man desperate to withdraw himself from everything. What it lacks in immediate sensations compared to an album like The Bends, it makes up for in depth. Every song has substance. Amnesiac **** A more musically rich extension of Kid A with many of the same themes (since they're from the same recording period), but without the same perfect flow to it. You could call it a b-sides album, but it's the best damn b-sides album you're ever gonna hear. Hail To The Thief **** Overproduced in places, but a nice blend of all their styles none the less. So, to answer the question, OK Computer is easily their greatest album ever, and one of the greatest albums that'll ever be recorded. I didn't like The Bends when I first heard it, because I was more used to the weird stuff. It took quite a while, but I find it to be possibly the best, song for song, if not as a whole. [Edited 11/15/06 11:04am] My Legacy

[Edited 11/15/06 11:04am] For me, it depends on whether or not I'm in the mood for a lot of guitar, or not so much. (regarding The Bends vs. Kid A for example) "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

Yeah, same here. I heard it after OKC, and I was really, really disappointed. I dismissed it for a while as just a rock album that wasn't anything too special. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

I've tried to rank their albums, but its near impossible for me to do. Like someone else already said, it depends on the mood that Im in. I guess for today, i'll rank them as:
1.Hail to the Thief 2.OK Comp. 3.Amesiac 4.I Might Be Wrong(live recordings) 5.THe Bends 6.Kid A 7.Pablo Honey hell, this list is about to change. Today IT HTTT because its blends the more rock oriented aspects of "the Bends" with the atomospheric leanings of "Kid A". Its also strong in terms of song structure. guess has 2 s's edit. Yeah, same here. I heard it after OKC, and I was really, really disappointed. I dismissed it for a while as just a rock album that wasn't anything too special. And it felt kind of fluffy, squishy, particularly the melodies/vocals. But given how much I liked their other stuff, I was ready to give it time. My Legacy

It doesn't have that ambiguous quality of their subsequent albums. That takes getting used to. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.
