Can you please stfu? I mean several stars are skinny and living unhealthy lifestyles. A beloved man has died, no need for other aside comments regarding his girth etc.

RIP Gerald. I remember he used to come on Video Soul with Donny Simpson and just be cuttin up with Donny like two brothas just having a good time. And he was content not having to get caught up in that crossover mess tha plagues many artists. Gerald was good people.

Yes but by saying that there are several skinny stars living unhealthy life styles you also made an aside comment.

What the hell is wrong with you? Where did I speak of someone "who just died" being skinny? Dont try and rationalize (poorly I might add) your fucked up statement in time of someones death.

Wow you are being hostile? Are you a little on the chunky side yourself, is this why you are so sensitive to the issue?

Weight has NOTHING to do with the fact that we lost YET ANOTHER ICON in the music game!!!!! What about his "weight in the game"????? What about the fact that he has been a VERY CONSISTENT ARTIST (moreso I DARE say than the artist this page is named after) in the game???? What about his accomplishments as a producer, writer, and performer????? If all U can think about at a time like this is his "personal weight" (which, by the way, he was working on) rather than his "musical weight", then U A STUPID MUTHAFU**A!!!!! AND SHUT THE FU*K UP NOW!!!!!

I challenge all U "a**holes" with ur weight jokes to think about THIS: Yet another void in the R&B music world. Ain't too many left that are "keeping it WAAAAY REAL". Gerald kept it WAAAAY REAL!!!!! And may he REST IN SOULFUL PEACE!!!!!

Gerald Levert Dies Of Heart Attack
By Roman Wolfe
Date: 11/10/2006 3:11 pm

R&B singer Gerald Levert died today (Nov. 10), after suffering a fatal heart attack. Levert, also known as "G-Bear" to his fans, is featured on Styles P upcoming album Time Is Money.

He was 40-years-old. The R&B singer was working on a reality show that featured him losing weight along with 12 of his female fans, who lived and trained with Levert for 30 days.

Gerald Levert comes from a legendary musical family. His father Eddie Levert is the lead singer of the O'Jays.

Levert scored pop success as a member of the R&B group Levert and as a member of LSG (Levert, Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill).

He later hit big with singles like "Casanova," "Pop, Pop, Pop, Pop (Goes My Mind)", "Mr. Too Damn Good to You" and others.

I've been avoiding this thread. Something in me doesn't want to acknowledge the death. The (elder) Levert family are neighbors to my parents in NE Ohio. More than celbrities, they're simply nice, nice people... sad

This is so sad. I had tickets to see him perform as a special guest at a comedy show next weekend.

My prayers go out to his family.

My co-worker told about this and my mouth dropped. That is just too sad for words. He had such a great voice and I dug quite a few songs of his, especially the stuff he did with LeVert. He was way too young to die. He will definetly be missed and my prayers go out to his friends and family.

Oh geez, America has been fat for years. People were fat when I was growing up in the 60s and 70s and I find little change in people's weight or eating habits, just that everyone acts like its suddenly this big epidemic. There were tons of fat kids when I was growing up. They say it leads to childhood diabetes. What is interesting is I work at a hospital and every day I work there have been a number of kids come in with onset diabetes and you know what? Every one of those kids are skinny. I've been there over a year and I've yet to see a fat kid come in with diabetes. As far as assuming Gerald Levert died due to his weight is extremely ignorant and presumptuous. There are a number of young people who die from heart attacks. 1) leading cause is diagnosed and undiagnosed congential heart defects; 2) drug use that weakened or damaged the heart; 3) genetics; 4) weight issues. He could have had other health issues that contributed to the heart attack or interfered with his weight. There have been a number of people who have dropped dead after exercising because they were just in bad health. Being bulemic and anorexic can weaken the heart. Being thin guarantees nothing. I keep my weight in check and I'm a vegetarian, but in no way to I walk around assuming that my health is sound.

Whether it is true or not, it is rude to come on here after the guy has been announced dead and start with he died because he was fat and "hey people remember to exercise" propaganda.

Rest in peace, Gerald. You were indeed a wonderful talent.

I was like "this has got to be an email hoax or something", but then when i looked it up, i found out it was true and i was so sad . Why are all the great soul singers leaving us??? mad Well he's in a better place now, but he is definitely gone too soon. angel pray

Oh and by the way, how come this isn't or hasn't become a sticky yet??? Moderators, what's going on here? If he was any other artist, this would have been a sticky by now.
I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

We know this is true so why find it necessary to say. We all know what being overweight can do, etc, etc. All of what you've said is understood. We know. confused Let's just talk about Gerald's music.

From what I understood, Gerald had a bout with cocaine usage at some point in his past and this could have had something to do with his heart attack.

I do feel for Eddie. A parent should never have to bury a child...NEVER.
