Why don't hard jammin' performers that pass away get long tributes on the radio like balladeers do? First of all, no disrespect to Gerald Levert whatsoever. Yes, he does deserve a lengthy radio tribute even if his music ain't my cup of tea. However, I think if I hear another one of his songs tonight, I'm going to absolutely scream! They have played him on and on and on and on and on and on. They did the same thing when Luther Vandross died.
The thing that gets on my nerves though, is when June Pointer died, I didn't hear one damn Pointer Sisters song on the radio. Also, when Rick James died, I heard maybe about an hour's worth of his music on the radio....if that long. Both of these entertainers have had years of music that could have gone on and on just as long as Gerald and Luther. As I said before, no disrespect to Gerald or Luther, but damn, how bout radio giving the hard jammin' motherfuckers the same respect when they die. Andy is a four letter word.

I agree.
Even today's mainstream gave 2pac the whole day (I kid you not!) of a tribute on during the the 10th year anniversary of his tragic death. And he was a rapper at that. As for June Pointer, they stay mostly with the The Pointer Sisters' 80's era.....and I don't think it was more than 15 minutes worth at that.

Just think.....
If Whitney Houston was to die tonight, the media would play her cover version of Dolly Parton's I Will Always Love You until we're all sick in the head!!!

The day she dies, I'm not even going to turn my radio or TV on. It's depressing enough when someone dies but her music is the absolute definition of depressing. Andy is a four letter word.
