My Brightest Diamond/ Shara Worden

I've loved her music for about 5 years now. She came to my attention at one of the Jeff Buckley tribute concerts. She's a major talent and has self released 2 cds as AWRY before hooking up with Sufjan Stevens and forming MBD.

This is their first release on Stevens' label.

This album is pretty good. It's a little spooky-ooky but in a very sophisticated way so that appeals to me naturally.

I missed her NYC show in November. sad

i haven't had a chance to see her live either. sad
yes there is a lot of death in this record her other ones, as AWRY, didn't have so much. I think it had to do with Shara's younger sister dying a few years ago. I'm listening to 'Magic Rabit' as I write this, and yeah, pretty gothic/creepy, in places.

I went early to catch her show based on a friend's recommendation, but I didn't like it very much. Not melodic enough, kinda dull, IMO. But I admit I may have just been too anxious to see Sufjan!

this is a cd that i keep a forgetting to buy. we showed up late (thanks to traffic getting into berkeley) and only caught the last two songs of my brightest diamond's set, when she opened for sufjan. i've always enjoyed her voiced when she sings with him and, going by what i did manage to hear at the show, the band sounds really good.
