Berlin.....Remember Them

Well Awhile back I brought news and info on AHA ( who by the way just tore it up 6 nights in Brazil), now Im here to Bring U the info on BERLIN. Back in the 80's Berlin scoreda few Hits like NO MORE WORDS and SEX and of Course TAKE MY BREATH AWAY their no.1 hit, and the only song they didnt write. BERLIN recorded 5 studio albums between 1979-1989 before TERI NUNN the lead singer Tried a solo CD and then stop working altogether. Well In 1997 BERLIN started touring with TERRI and a whole new BAND, they made some EPS only available at shows and websites of theirs, But in 2000 they released one of the best live CDS Ive ever heard called the SACRED AND PROFANE, but now in 2002 this past Tuesday in fact they are back with an all new Studio CD called VOYEUR, its out of this world, TERRIs vocals are amazing, I finally realized who Gwen Stefani reminds me of sort of, TERRI NUNN, Berlin was one of the most Underrated bands of that time period and they started that whole Keyboard craze of the 80's in the late 70's when they formed. I guess they called it TECHNOPOP well that was BERLIN, some of that still exists but they are really straight foward ROCK and really have a good CD on their hands with VOYEUR and word has it they may do some dates with NO DOUBT and GARBAGE on that TOUR. Berlins biggest problem was that they were way ahead of its time, Their song SEX was banned everywhere, as was the video, they basically were the first to push it with SEX in the early 80's, when i listen to that song U still wouldnt be able to get it through on Radio, its amazing that it even charted back in 1982 from their First CD Pleasure Victim. All in All Berlin Scored one number one hit 3 top 40's a few other charted singles, they had 3 gold albums, one double platnum album (their best of collection), and one platnum single. But they are Back again so if U remember them check out VOYEUR their new CD.

'The Metro'

One of the best New Wave/Pop songs of the 80's.

Which, incidentally are:

'Love Action' - Human League
'Do You Really Want To Hurt Me' - Culture Club
'Relax' - Frankie Goes To Hollywood
'Avalon' - Roxy Music
'The Metro' - Berlin
'Girls On Film' - Duran Duran
'The Art Of Parties' - Japan
'Wood Beez' - Scritti Politti
'Don't Go' - Yaz

Of course this is subject to change...

Great to see Berlin thread.

Lastdecember didn't mention the fact that Berlin even used to do "controversy"
in their '84 tour. AND even Prince himself
joined them onstage during their '87 tour in europe.

They only had 3 studio albums, 2 EPS,
hits, and the excellent live CD from 2000.
The very 1st lp was without Terri Nunn.

The lead singer (Terri Nunn) actually appeared in the 1978 Disco comedy 'Thank God It's Friday'.She plays one of the under-aged teenage girls who tries to get into the nightclub.
