vainandy said: They used to play "Whip Appeal" so much that I could recognize it from the very first musical note when it came on the radio. Apparently, other people could too because a good friend of mine was riding with me in my car who loves that song. I heard that first note and switched the station quick before she could notice. Hell, she noticed and hollered...."Hey, that's Whip Appeal, turn that back!". Then she sang along with the damn song. Afterwards, they played another one I hate...."Superwoman" by Karyn White and she sang LOUDLY. If they had played a Whitney Houston song afterwards, I think I would have run the damn car into a tree and ended it all.
You should have told your friend whoever's name is on the title of this car makes the rules. That sh!t is crazy. Babyface set real men back 50 years with that crap music of his.

When Babyface teamed with L.A. Reid, 'Face was the primary creator of the ballads and L.A. was the main person on the uptempo stuff. When they went their separate ways circa late 1993, that was when you can hear the creative shift in Babyface's music. Basically, his music became ballad-oriented from that point. Hmmmm, That's interesting. Face once said that the reason for the split with LA was that he felt that he did the majority of the songwriting. But I agree with you. The music did change after they parted ways. That's when he started writing crap like "Soon As I Get Home From Work".[Edited 11/12/06 11:32am]

"Soon As I Get Home" aside, you can't get too mad at Babyface. He got caught up in the movement to "smooth" the music out. It started a few years earlier.

Thats right, I don't. I love Toni's work with her husband Keri Lewis from The Heat and some of the stuff she did with her ex-boyfriend, Bryce Wilson or whats his name, I love Anita's pre-90's stuff more(esp the ones with George Duke) and I dig TLC's work with Dallas Austin which I think he's more unpredictable,,,other than that, nah! baby face made some GREAT songs... maybe he didnt make great music for himself... but during the 90s when he made those songs they were very nice Waiting For Exhale was his worthiest moment,,,,the rest belong to the garbage IMHO. ..... Imo,Toni Braxton's only good songs were the ones that Babyface wrote produced for her ("Breathe Again","Another Sad Love Song","Love Shoulda Brought You Home","There's No Me Without You","Let It Flow","Seven Whole Days","You Mean The World To Me",etc). After she stopped working with him,her career went downhill. Her first album is her masterpiece.

He was kinda like a male version of Shitney Houston....weak, weak, weak. Babyface as a solo artist had some great uptempo jams,imo... "I Love You Babe" (1987) "Mary Mack" (1987) "My Kinda Girl" (1989) "Rock Bottom" (1993) but it was his ballads that got all the attention."Whip Appeal" can't be topped.

My Favorite Babyface jam was, In the scariest way"....That was the song for me. As for "As soon as I get home from work", see I don't get some of the resentment for this song. The man is not saying, I am going to let you rule and run over me. What he is saying is, you really don't have to worry about a thing. All you have to do is just wake up and I will take care of the rest. Why is this such bad thing. Some of you on here, are like.....he set a bad presedent.....Does this mean that he caught you out there? If you have a good woman, you all should be still doing the stuff that brought you two together in the first place....and as for the women who say, that his sentiment, is too mush and cornball....would u rather have that flipside....the brotha that really could care less about you and who would waste no time, calling you out your name....Make up your mind. Just because a man wants to be attentive to that degree, does not mean that he is not a strong black man; nor does it mean that you are unable to do it yourself. Babyface, was just saying that, "If you need me, I got your back". "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

I remember my older sister going crazy over that song. She was like "Why can't I find a man like that??!!" Babyface was saying exactly what most woman want to hear.
