Good one. Annie Lennox also did a good cover but I think the definitive version of "Take Me To The River" would be debated as Green vs. Heads

I was just thinking about this because of something I posted on another thread, but:
T. Rex and Power Station both do great versions of Get It On (Bang A Gong). I like the original best, but Power Station's take on it is pretty damn good, yet really different as well. That bassline. John Lennon & Donny Hathaway. Donny did a great live version of this on his 1972 'live' album, maybe even better than the original.

Wasn't it Bonnie Tyler who sang it and not MeatLoaf? I know that Meat's producer and writing partner, Jim Stienem wrote it. Maybe that is why it sounds like Meatloaf. "Love is like peeing in your pants, everyone sees it but only you feel its warmth"

Both the Bee Gees' original and Janis Joplin's live version are brilliant, imo. This made me think of "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart." I fell in love with Al Green's version as a teenager, and never knew that it was a cover of the Bee Gees song until much later. I still prefer Al's, but they're definitely two different takes on a heartbreakingly beautiful song. The Normal Whores Club
