Why Are There 2 "The Power"s- Snap & Chill Rob G?

Does anyone on here know why there are 2 versions of this song, both with the same beat but different lyrics and vocals, that came out around the same time?

If I remember correctly, Chill Rob G. crafted the beat and put down his own lyrics. Then Snap! came along, copyrighted the beat and changed the lyrics, and had a hit. Something like that.

I'm one of the few who've always preferred the Chill Rob G. version.
