The Jackson 5ive thread

One of my favorite groups ever.....

J5 recorded 469 tracks for Motown from 1969 to 1976. Many remain unreleased like:
To Sir With Love
I've Gotta Be Me
Paper Doll
If You Want Heaven
After The Storm
Guess Who's Making Whoopee With Your Girlfriend
Jackson Man
Take My Heart
You Can't Hurry Love
Come and Get It
Wouldja?

there's also an unreleased MJ album that was produced by Stevie Wonder that included:
You're Supposed To Keep Your Love For Me
No News Is Good News
Buttercup
A Pretty Face Is(or Pretty Faces)

One of my all-time faves as well. No doubt about it. Maybe Tomorrow album is one of the best albums ever recorded! I only really favor the 69-72 phase. Actually, 70-72, their songs and production were top notch. Their influence and appeal to soooo may different children and teens in the early 70's is unmatched. EVERYBODY liked the J5. It was universal. Brilliant stategy by the wardrobe department at Motown by having them dress like the 2 biggest and flashiest black performers of the day; Hendrix and Sly.

They should have released "To Sir With Love" or at least put it on an album. "Paper Doll" is another.

"Guers Who's Making Whoopee" is the original of "Mama's Pearl" and "You're Supposed To Keep Your Love" was a J5 track with Mike, JAckie and Jermaine all trading lead. It was latter released on Jermaine's "Let's Get Serious"

I have a couple of unreleased songs like their cover of "Lavender Blue" and "Just Another Love Song". I've been helping out with a book called "Michael Jackson: For The Record" and I could believe how much they had recorded. Even with the hundreds of recordings that they did, their are also alternate takes and mixes. Those kids worked their asses off. I look at alot of these teen singers and how they say they work so hard. Michael and his brothers released 14 albums in just 7 years, with Michael releasing 4 solo efforts. Michael probably doesn't remember all those songs.

I have "Guess Who's Making Whoopee With Your Girlfriend" and I like it both along with "Mama's Pearl"

That's why it pisses me off at time, when people concentrate on Michael's adult solo years, whereby he did only 6 albums in 20 yrs. I find the early yrs so much more interested and I think it showed the true essence of Michael, even if he didn't write any of those songs, himself.

He was real and deep, and he seem to have a great sense of who he was. I alway felt he knew back then he was a Soul Singer through and through He definetly wasn't the Peter Pan he became; not in his music nor his persona.

To Sir with Love? I had no idea. I would love to hear this. Has anyone heard it? Is there any way to hear it?

My weeks just do go right unless I play some J5...fo real! woot!

ABC and Dancing Machine are my favorite albums by them. A couple of weeks ago I had "If I Have To Move a Mountain" (from LTTW) on repeat. A beautiful song it is.

Motown should start going back into the vault and release:
Michael's 1973 album
Tito's and Marlon's unreleased albums
and another boxset with 3 discs of unreleased songs and a live concert

Me too. Even when I think of Michael, I still think of him in terms of the J5/Jacksons, afro hair, brown-skin the works. The J5 were underestimated to be a bubblegum boy band, but they were so much more than that.

One of my favourite songs of their is "Darling Dear" Michael was 4 feet nothing and all of 11 yr old but there was so much sincerity in his voice when he sang that song.

I love the J5! love

My favorites are "The Love You Save," "Never Can Say Goodbye," "Mama's Pearl," and their knocked-it-out-of-the-park versions of "Who's Loving You" and "Stand."

"In our small way" is one of my favs, but that is not j5 mad

So, my fav JACKSON 5 song is probably a tie between "love you save" and "corner of the sky"

Yeah. And to think, this song was originally intended for Sammy Davis Jr.
