I saw this thread the other day, Cheek. You've picked a cracker! thumbs up!

I think this was the second Bowie album I bought, after 'Black Tie, White Noise'. nod

'Scary Monsters...' is one of those albums I *never* tire of. Ever. It launches a complete assault on you - in all the right places. nod Bowie really was on a roll with this one and there's still nothing like it. worship It constantly fights for the position of my favourite Bowie album.

When you look at the rest of his 80's output, it's just sad when you think how much promise this album gave... sigh

But a wonderful, wonderful album. Genius. worship

I think Outside is a mess. There's a much better album struggling to get out, in my opinion.
I think there's only one song I like on the second half. But I appreciate I'm in the minority, most folk consider it his best work of the 90s. I much prefer Hours.

The Hearts Filthy Lesson, Hello Spaceboy, The Motel, I'm Deranged, Strangers When We Meet...all great songs! smile

"Hours" is a great album I really love it but somehow I often forget about it... lol

The interludes make "Outside" less-enjoyable

I definitely agree. The burned copy I have without them is much easier to stomach.

You should also burn a copy of all the interludes from "Outside". smile

I was thinking about that yesterday and I always find it difficult to choose these things. shake Impossible! But I prefer Side 1 over Side 2. nod

There's not one track on the album that I don't like. worship

What??! lol

That is typical me - very Libran. nod Always weighing up the possibilities.

I honestly don't know how people come up with lists. I like every song for different reasons. If you want me to sit down for three hours and come up with one, I'll do it. Otherwise, I'm busy right now. confused lol

But at a push - and this really only is a spur of the moment thing; it will change nod - I'd pick 'Fashion'. That's what I'd stick on if I had the cd to hand.

I feel unclean. confused

I've been kind of reluqtant to buy his classic albums due to various rereleases but I have this one and am glad I do. If that is considered new wave, it's never sounded better on a full album.

truthfully, the whole album is pretty good if you take out the segues and eliminate that pretentious storyline.

The only thing I don't like about "Hours" is the thin & "sterile" sound it has. nod

Though it includes some all time faves:
Thursday's Child
Something In The Air
Survive
The Pretty Things Are Going To Hell
