I went to a Tower clearance sale over the weekend well and, despite the very slim pickings at this point (the Hollywood Tower Records on Sunset), I got Shalamar's Greatest Hits and EWF's The Eternal Dance box set for $40 total.
Earlier last week, I picked up the new De La Soul Impossible Mission. It's not as good as The Grind Date, but it's still pretty damn solid. The lyrics are very on point- as is always the case with De La.

I'm so excited for both of you. What do you think of it? and I adore Shara. I have her AWRY cds also. she's sucha talent. I LOVE the Joan CD. It will make my top 5 albums of the year. Someone was promoting the hell out of it here on the org a few months ago so I listened to a few tracks, liked what I heard and bought the import from a vendor through amazon. Don't know if it will ever get a U.S. release. Shara's album I read about in a magazine (don't remember which one, I subscribe to so many), but the description "gothic ballads" really hooked me so I listened to two songs on myspace and then bought the album the very same day. It starts out really good, but I got a little tired of it after the first two tracks, but then it slowly grew on me again so that by the end I thought it was a very cool disc. It seems like a grower. I can see myself drooling over it after listening to it a few more times.

I hope you didn't pay to much for it. You can get it on the Reveal site for about $10 + postage. I've been a fan of Joan's work since 1992 and we've been email buddies for about 5 years now. lovely woman. I jst wish she'd come tour the US. she's been over sees since last Dec. anyway, i can't say enough about how i love both those cds. glad you do too. [Edited 11/10/06 14:05pm] I owe you lots of thanks for turning me on to Joan. I even added her to my friends list on myspace. I doubt I would have discovered her otherwise since I'm not into Antony and The Johnsons. I saw the thread a few months back and thought it was a really cool name for a recording artist.
