I know many gay people who HATE Madonna, Streisand and every other so-called "gay icon." John Waters once said that a gay man listening to Judy Garland is like a black man watching a minstrel show.

I love people who have non-stereotyped taste in music. Case in point--I went and saw the Pet Shop Boys on Thursday and there were several black men and women in the audience who were rocking the fuck out. When people think of the PSB fanbase, they usually think of gay, white men instantly. I was talking to a lovely black woman who was VERY FIRST IN LINE and hell, she knew their shit better than I did.

This idea that there's "gay" music, "black" music, etc. is just stupid.
