Whatever you do, don't take this show too seriously. It's all a joke, it's based of the votes of a few people, not the general public as they might want you to think.

That's all understood from the get-go, but even on that basis, the top tier of the list is a joke.

True, True, the Top 10 of this list is a joke.

Just My Opinion,

1. Billie Jean Michael Jackson
2. Like A Virgin Madonna
3. When Doves Cry Prince
4. Every Breath You Take The Police
5. Born In The USA Bruce Springsteen
6. Walk This Way Run DMC ft Aerosmith
7. What's Love Got To Do With It Tina Turner
8. 1999 Prince
9. Jessie's Girl Rick Springfield
10. Jump Van Halen

But that's just my opinion

Wow. That list is hideous. That's got to be the whitest view of the '80s ever. And I agree, what the hell is Whitesnake doing up that high?

1 "Livin’ on a Prayer" Bon Jovi -- WAAAY TOO HIGH. "Thriller" or "Billie Jean" should be No.1 regardless of what one thinks about Michael Jackson now.

2 "Pour Some Sugar On Me" Def Leppard -- Come on. I'd take "Sweet Child" over this one any time.

6 "I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)" Daryl Hall & John Oates -- Love Hall and Oates, but this is way too high.

17 "Here I Go Again" Whitesnake Are you kidding me?

Yeah i agree, though im a big Jovi fan im shocked it came in at Number 1 also, i would have placed Wanted Dead or ALive instead. I think this count down showed how big power-rock was in the 80's with fans. Hall and Oates, i was just surprised they had only one entry, they were one of the top artists of the 80's. Guns N Roses, well i think they are great and love the songs, but they are so overrated and over praised for their place in time.

I canNOT believe that The Cover Girls OR Expose are nowhere to be found on THIS list.

In fact, I canNOT believe that THIS list has no artists from the Freestyle genre at all! IMO, the 80's are nothing without them.

It's a better song. No 80's list would be complete without Bon Jovi but the pop icons of the 80's were MJ, Madonna, Prince, and Bruce. ANY one of them (or U2 or the Police) I could see at No. 1 but not BJ.

No doubt, but that was too high even for them.

'Sweet Child O'Mine" is iconic, but you're on point there.

Yeah...But keep in mind...V-H1 had little to do with the list, which was voted on by the viewers...

But...My Top 10 would be...

1. "Billie Jean" Michael Jackson (And I'm a bigger Prince fan..But that's just the way it is..)
2. "When Doves Cry" Prince
3 "Walk This Way" Run DMC
4. "Every Breath You Take" The Police
5. "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" U2
6. "Beat It" Michael Jackson
7. "Little Red Corvette" Prince
8. (Tie)---"Hungry Like A Wolf" Duran Duran/"Sweet Child O Mine"--Guns & Roses
9. "Like A Virgin" Madonna
10. "My Perrogative" Bobby Brown

We normally agree, but there is no way in hell "Thriller" should be atop any list that isn't about videos. "Thriller" and "Sledgehammer" are good songs with great videos. Neither song should be anywhere near the top 100 of the '80s... especially over better tracks like "Beat It" or "In Your Eyes."

Let me clarify. The list VH1 oompiled was 100 greatest pop songs of the 1980's. On that basis, I think the title track from the biggest album of the decade (which also spawned the biggest music video in the history of the medium) should be ranked ahead of "Prayer" which wasn't as popular as "Thriller."

Now, 100 greatest songs of the decade is a different story. On that basis you have a point I can get with.

the 1980s was full of very unique melodies all for different reasons. so i think there are some absolute compilations that are just simply dangerous to make and i think this is specifically one of them.....it's like the impossible cube thing with the colors that's so hard to get...

yes &I can think of few more WS tunes that could be on that list. WS is much more than hair metal band. It was just a stage of their career. THey were a blues/rock band in late 70s and ofcourse Coverdale has a Deep Purple background where he wrote lyrics and provided the lead vocals for one of their best albums (BURN). And over the years a lot of geat musicians played in that band Jon Lord, Ian Paice (of deep purple), Cozzy Powwel, John Sykes, Adrian Vandenberg, Vivian Campbell and Steve Vai. headbang

That list is kinda...ehh...I love eighties music..but there are WAY cooler songs from that time than some of these. I don't wanna jump on the "this list sucks" bandwagon but some of those songs were not that great. I cringe whenever I hear "You shook me all night long". But at least they included Talking heads and I love that "Too shy" song. Hmm...and I didn't see Missing Persons on there...and yes what about Peter Gabriel??? So much wrong with this!
