yes it's all to do with taking the time to record the songs properly; using the right equipment, time and patience.

I had the original cd of Electric ladyland(NOT REMASTERED) and that SOUNDED SUPERIOR to p's 80's work and it was recorded in the 60's!

That seems to be the case with some of Bowie's late 90s remasters... I prefer the Ryko Low also more than the remaster; and it has the awesome outtake "Some Are" (a version with vocals, not the Philip Glass recording). Especially on "Be My Wife" there seems to be something wrong with the 99 remaster.

I think everything from D&P on has sounded pretty doggone good.
