The Latin Grammy Awards VS The MTV EMA Awards

Well this is going to be no contest whether you like/understand Latin Music or not you cannot deny the level of class or the lack of. Sure it was MTV and who would expect class from MTV, after all this is a network that has shows like, Pimp my Ride,Dismissed and other classics, but my main problem was it was the European Awards and it was held in Germany where were all the European artists??? with performances by Justin,Nelly F, Puffy,Cassie, Rihanna, it just seemed like another version of the MTV Video awards. Now i know some of these artists are succesful over there BUT how do you leave out top european sellers like Girls Aloud.Anastacia,Pet Shop boys and countless others, though it was nice to see Depeche Mode,The Muse and a few European artists win, the representation was poor. And if the argument is ratings, then dont call it the European Awards. As for the performances, well a few were live and some werent, the one that Cracked me up was Puffy doing his song "Come to Me" which is a duet with Nicole from PCD, but since she wasnt there Cassie lipsynched her part, cheesy! The Kanye incident well we all know that already, even better was his explanation that he was drunk and it wasnt his ego this time, very classy.

Now the Latin Grammys, well its the total opposite, class all the way around, not to harp on this, but there just seemed to be alot of pride at these awards from nominees, winners and performers. The performances were all live, there were no antics and drunken egos. I know someone was questioning the fact that why does latin music get its own Grammy show. Well lets break it down, during the actual grammy show everyone gets there time on the show, plus there are other award shows through the year like the CMA's, AMA's, Vibe Awards,Source Awards,BEt Awards,Soul Train Awards, so Hip hop/rb pop and country are all very well spoken for. Latin Music has now been cut to 4 awards in the Grammy Field, and gets no airtime at all on the 3-4 hour show, despite it being the biggest growing population and music genre out there. Another reason would be that Latin Music has many different categories, everything from Tejano/Mexican, Pop,Rock,Salsa,Merengue/Tropical,and Now reggaeton, so it is becoming a wider genre and varied audience and deserves its own time.

Statement, also i think europe should not allow MTV to represent them at award shows anymore. Channels like IMF are the future MTV has seen its day, time to retire and MTV2 with it.

That annoyed me too, the amount of American stars at the European awards. Half of those people arent even known in Europe. I wanted to see all the European stars there. And it was actually held in Denmark not Germany.
