The mutiple Janet threads are equally as annoying if not more so. Her album tanked, so what? It's crap. get over it.

I hate now how you can start up any tired old thread about a pop star (be it Janet, Madge, MJ, Beyonce, Mariah, Xtina, Justin, etc., etc.) and get an instant 50 or 100+ posts, whereas stuff that hasn't been beaten into the ground as much or stuff with arguably more talent/musical merit gets ignored. I don't get to post nearly as often as I used to. My raggedy ass computer at home died on me so the only time I get to post is when I'm at work.....the times that I have to work in the evening (when I'm alone) or if my boss is out of the office.

I still post, but the threads I start really don't stay around that long. Hell, my last few threads were about Weather Report, David Sylvian, and Jaco Pastorius's daughter, Mary... Those just aren't gonna compete with all those MJ/ Madonna/Janet/Justin posts, ..... ... " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

What happened to all those fun "Song of the Day" threads? I still do those but it's getting harder to think of a song that I haven't posted before. Also, I know a few songs I could start a thread on but I'm afraid no one else has heard the songs. For instance, "She's Got To Be (A Dancer)" by Jerry Knight in 1981. . . Some of the last posts I started were on non-Pop live concerts (Jeff Beck, Allan Holdsworth, Gov't Mule) and non-Pop artists like (Trilok Gurtu, Teruo Nakamura, Baden Powell and Old World Mafia music ). You can imagine the "shelf-life" of that product. It is hard to compete with the M-Squad (MJ, Madonna, Mariah) But if That's The Way of The World, so be it. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. In my defense, I don't start a lot of Janet threads. I respond to them, however. I'm trying to branch-out here on the org. But I was lurker in this section for so long. I sometimes just prefer reading what you all have to say. I was really more active in the Pol./Religion discussion forum. I've just have been trying to lighten-up a bit. [Edited 10/27/06 16:52pm]

or are you posting for "Substance" ? cause, frankly this is NOT the best site for having SERIOUS music discussions it's PRINCE.org Just curious.... Posting for popularity/threadcount is obviously not my goal. If that was the case, i'd start a daily Pop Star, or even better, Pop Star Gossip thread. And periodically, this is a place for "SERIOUS music discussions" (as it's a Music: Non-Prince forum). I've picked up quite a bit of information about artists and music I was not very familar with from folks here and just try and return the favor from time to time whether it garners massive threadcounts or not. I'm not maligning the fact that there are a large number of threads on those particular Pop artists being a fan of Pop music myself. It was simply an observation. There may be some that are concerned with attaining some kind of Message Board Messiah status. I'm not one. It's just about the discussion of interesting music for me. Just sayin'... tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

I only got 3 responses besides my own to my recent gypsy thread. But it's gotten 88 "views". So if people are reading and not posting, that's fine with me. And sometimes it's a good way to find the rare soulmate.

What I've always liked about this site is that the tastes and visitors themselves are quite a diverse bunch and it covers a good array of genres from punk to funk to rock to R&B to jazz etc. I'd like to know if any other sites cover such a wide ground. It's pretty light on the folk and classical genres though.

I like this forum and it does have good, deep discussions about other artists other than Prince. Even the usual suspects MJ/JJ/Madonna you can have insightful discussions about their music. The problem arises when someone comes up with a topic about MJ "changing face" or "Lets have a good laugh at MJ Mug shot". Topics like that lower the tone of the forum. People often forget that although most peeps concentrate on MJ six, solo albums over 20 yrs, he also did up to 20 albums with the J5/Jacksons, so there is more to discuss about than his personal life and Thriller/Dangerous/Bad..
In general most of the peeps on this forum have a great insight into most music, regardless of the genre. You don't get that deep, knowledgeable insight on most sites, you definetly won't get it on a MJ site.. [Edited 10/28/06 11:09am]
