See Ray Parker Jr in drag!!!

Hate on the song all u want (New edition fans should dig it though), its a decent, and catchy pop song. Not a bad album it comes off either.

Video rocks though. Bring back the 80's!

notice the adlib at the end of the song?....

"Those of u who've gone the other way, girls are more fun"....

And ray, there is no guitar in that song LOL

Rays lyrics are often pretty macho really, even if the music isn't. Like his "I dont think that man should sleep alone" song. Pure adult contemporary, but the message seems to be that adultery is fine.

"The world we live in, has too many laws and too many rules.
The thought of you and me sleeping here, seems liek everybody dissaproves".

It could even be seen that he is sleeping with underaged girls in those lines. Either way, Ray's lyrics are often quite interesting on relationships.

Damn, i would love Rays "girls are more fun" on VHS. I got "mr telephoine man" off some crusty and US NE video compilation, and that is sooooo 80's and hilairious aswell.

This song sucks disbelief for awhile there in the mid-80s,Ray Parker Jr. lost his way, with several crappy pop singles, trying to jump on the crossover bandwagon. He redeemed himself in 1987 with the excellent comeback album 'After Dark'.

Iam surprised you like "after dark". Its straight up adult contemporary, and even MOR in places. I like it alot too, as i mentioned eariler in the thread.

Fav songs from "after dark":-

I dont think that man should sleep alone
Over you (with natalie cole)
You shoulda kept a spare
The past
After dark (probably my fav)

So, in 3 albums, he did pop, then adult contemporary, then in 1991, went completely newjack with the excellent "i love you like you are", which is worth a look for newjack fans.

Don't forget the song "Perfect Lovers" music

'After Dark' was a return to form for Ray,after years of cheesy pop hits like "Ghostbusters" and "Girls Are More Fun".On 'After Dark',he returned to his R&B roots. It's a very soulful album. The first single "I Don't Think That Man Should Alone" is a cleverly written track that has a Marvin Gaye feel to it.The Natalie Cole duet "Over You" is another highlight.

Glad u like it. Its a solid album. I don't think u would like his "Love you like you are" album, though the slow title track would of fitted onto "after dark" very well.

After that, i got little of him. barring the glenn medeiros track called "all iam missing is you" that ray wrote, produced, etc... for him. Its funk/pop, but u'd hate it though. U can hear ray on the adlibs aswell. Typical ray "macho" song. I love it
