Two Different Classic Songs With The Same Name ...
Inspired by the "Definitive Versions" thread, I was wondering how many instances there were in this case - requesting a classic song could mean two completely different tunes, depending on where and who you are... ask for 'Stairway To Heaven', and you might get the O'Jays insted of Zeppelin, ask for "Brown Eyed Girl", and you might get Van Morrison when you were expecting the Isley Brothers, ask for "Brandy" and it might be the O'Jays again, instead of that AM favorite about the girl and the sailor, by Looking Glass... ask for Shout, and Lord knows what you'd get - Isleys, Tears for Fears, etc.... Can anybody think of any others? ... [Edited 11/9/06 16:14pm] " I've got six things on my mind --you're no longer one of them." - Paddy McAloon, Prefab Sprout

Is it too soon to consider 50 Cent's "Disco Inferno" a classic? I was so hoping it was a cover when I first saw the song title on his album.
Just kidding. How about "The Boys Are Back In Town" by both Thin Lizzy and The Bus Boys? The latter might not be that well known though. edit: Or is that the same song? [Edited 11/9/06 16:32pm]

"The Power of Love" by Frankie Goes To Holleywood, Huey Lewis and The News and Jennifer Rush. What's even stranger is that they were all out at the same time too!! "Playing hard to get is getting hard to play".

about half the songs in the Kylie Minogue catalog "share" (i'm being charitable) their titles with other, better, more famous songs. "The world of the heterosexual is a sick and boring life. " -- Edith Massey in Female Trouble

Well, there are several songs which could be listed here, like:
Don't Be Cruel - Elvis Presley/Bobby Brown Cherish - The Association/Kool & The Gang/Madonna Crazy - Patsy Cline/The Judds/Aerosmith/Seal/Gnarls Barkley and I'm sure a dozen more which I've forgotten or haven't heard. Human Nature - Michael Jackson/Madonna Missing You - John Waite/Diana Ross Baby Come To Me - Patti Austin & James Ingram/Regina Belle and don't get me started on Mariah Carey, who always seems to be borrowing familiar song titles for her original compositions. Love Takes Time (Orleans) Someday (Glass Tiger/Sugar Ray/Nickelback) Can't Let Go (Anthony Hamilton) Dreamlover (Bobby Darin) Hero (Enrique Iglesias) Fantasy (Earth, Wind and Fire/Aldo Nova) Butterfly (Crazy Town) Breakdown (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers) Heartbreaker (Led Zeppelin/Pat Benatar/Dionne Warwick) Loverboy (Billy Ocean) All My Life (K-Ci and JoJo) It's Like That (Run D.M.C.) Stay The Night (Benjamin Orr) Circles (Atlantic Starr)
