Old school reflection: Charlie Singleton

Just seeing if anyone remembers the song "Make your move on me, baby" by Charlie Singleton from his "Modern Man" CD (circa 1985)? Dude played MANY instruments. He had some good hooks on his solo work. He still had a little bit of the Cameo sound but definately had his own flavor.

Pulling out a jam like this seperates the true funk/R&B heads from the posers. evillol

One of the baddest funk/rock guitarists - he's up there with P and Roger Troutman. I had his solo album, "Man on a Mission"(I had it on cassette), which was a tour-de-force. As I'm typing this, I can't get that little tune "Sorry Charlie" out of my head (and it's not even a full-blown song).

The few times I've seen him with Cameo (I'm talkin' tv appearances) he never has his geetar turned up enough for my tastes. I wanna hear Mr. Charlie blow!!!

"Don't Be Lonely" is great but the guitar solo was actually played by a different guitarist, a GIT graduate (first name's Pat, if I remember correctly). Think he played the solos on "Candy", as well.

so it was patrick buchannan who played 'em eh? it seems from '84 on cameo used a lot of studio musicians like singleton buchannan mike burnett and aaron mills....
