one mo' 'gain:kamaal I was listening to "feelin'" this morning and it rocked as awlays. And I remember reading that Tip will try and release the cd by himself. Well, wouldn't it be great and make sense if P released it on NPG?
Now,I know this is against what P would normally do,but it would be a fresh start to have a serious label. There is no reason he couldn't have one of teh coolest small labels around and have a roster of really incredible talent. There are so many lesser known artists or acts without deals that P could capitalize on.His name would bring more attention to these artists and he could build a serious brand in the music arena and refuge for "forgotten" bands. Why not be a larger Stones Throw??It could be really great and the artists would have a chance to be freer and release what they want.It could be a modern day A&M,where "true" artists sign.He just needs some smart,like-minded people to help him. I say he sign Tip and wendy and Lisa as artists and consultants.Get Alan Leeds back to help organize and go after Fishbone, jamiroquai,Maxwell,TTD(sananda),MF Doom,Kool Keith,Dougie Fresh, etc. Can't we all think of many more artists than that of different genres that would thrive in this situation? Back to the original thought:kamaal should be heard by more than just me and few thousand fools.I can so picture people rocking that cd in their apartments on friday night before they go out or in traffic on saturday afternoon. This cd is for hip hop bohemians and hippie chicks and accountants who unwind with a glass of pinot and a tightly rolled joint.Appropos because kamaal the Abstract is one tightly realized joint. it is now my theory that Tip does not want to settle for anything less than a major label push.
think about it, he has been on a major since he was a teen. otherwise, yeah we woulda seen that LP on Stones Throw or the like.

Your idea has been what I hoped NPG would turn out to be, instead of just Prince stallite bands the record co would not have.
It ain't a true generation if it is just Prince, is it? Xpand.
