INDIA ARIE - FILLMORE LAST NIGHT I'm not a huge fan of Indias but I do love her music. Well last night she blew me away. I saw her at the Fillmore. She was sweet and soooo great. Multi-talented. She played the keyboard, guitar and the flute, at one point. Her back up singers were amazing too. Her band, off the hook.
Everyone should go out to see her. I guess she's in San Francisco again tonight and then Anaheim tomorrow. After that she's off to Europe. I've seen her about three times and totally agree which is why even though I'm not crazy about this last album, I would still go see her show. Her band is tight and if she ever brings her mother on stage to sing you just may forget all about India for a minute.
True, she doesn't quite exude that on her CDs but she is definitely a performer that can carry a show. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

I was at that show as well, and I'm going again tonight. Her shows are just really uplifting, and she was really feelin' the SF audience. It also helps that it was being filmed for some promotional thing. She performed songs from all three releases, starting with the most recent with "I am Not My Hair" when she takes off the wig and wrap to unveil her short cropped red-headed style, and ended with "I am Ready For Love," easily a hard core fan favorite. I always enjoy her shows, and it's just interesting to see the crowd she attracts. Her band was fabulous, and backup singers were on point as well.
Other songs included last night: "There's Hope," "Heart of the Matter," "Wings of Forgiveness," "India's Song," "Good Man," "Video," "Brown Skin," "Strength, Courage & Wisdom," "Back To The Middle," "Beautiful," Talk to Her," "The Truth," "Beautiful Surprise," "God Is Real," "Complicated Melody," "I Choose," These Eyes," "Private Party." I might have missed one or two, but nevertheless it was a pretty long concert. She had alot to say as well, but just wanted to mention that she talked about performing with Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Chaka Khan at the BET Awards, and Prince mentioning her as an influence in his acceptance speech. She was pretty touched by that. I highly recommend going to her shows. It's good for the soul. "Funkyslsistah… you ain't funky at all, you just a little ol' prude"!
"It's just my imagination, once again running away with me."

My 1st time seeing her live was in 2004 when she opened up for George Clinton at Buffalo State College. I was impressed & her band was very good.

She's coming to a small club here in Germany in a week or 2, really close to my place. I was hesitant to buy tickets, but I think you just convinced me to go

The version of BROWNSKIN that she performed reminded me of Prince's SHHH.
