Album of the day: "We are family" by Sister Sledge

For SoulAlive biggrin

This is one of the best disco albums, every song is great, and it`s the only place you can find the full lenght version of the title track.

This album contains it`s share of hits, but one of my favorite songs, that weren`t even released as a single,
is the VERY Chich-sounding "Easier to love" music

As a reminder, here`s the tracklist.... smile
1. He's The Greatest Dancer
2. Lost In Music
3. Somebody Loves Me
4. Thinking Of You
5. We Are Family
6. Easier To Love
7. You're A Friend To Me
8. One More Time

My favorites on the album are:

"Thinking Of You" ( my favorite Bernard Edwards/Nile Rodgers tune!)

"Easier To Love"

"Somebody Loves Me"

"You're A Friend To Me"

I have the album here at home. Pure classic stuff - basically a Chic album with Sister Sledge handling the vocals. "Someone Who Loves Me" - pure bliss.

Plus, there's nothing like that classic "Chic Breakdown", played to full effect on "He's The Greatest Dancer".

I think this is one of the Top 5 disco albums of all-time music

It's a flawless, consistent album where every song is excellent. In 1978/79,the hottest sound in R&B was the Chic sound, and on this album, they shine. In addition to the three hit singles ("He's The Greatest Dancer","We Are Family" and "Lost In Music"),the album also boasts "Thinking Of You",which many people think should have been a single, and the last track "One More Time".

a little trivia: Chic were actually gonna keep the song "He's The Greatest Dancer" for themselves. They were planning to give Sister Sledge the track "I Want Your Love".But they switched things around. If you listen closely to Chic's "I Want Your Love",you can even hear Sister Sledge's vocals in the chorus. They kept the sister's vocals there, intact.

"Thinking of You" has such a cool Nile intro and it's such a feel good song. Music can be such a powerful thing smile
