no shame in my game! when i was little i used to act snatch feathers out of my moms furniture duster and act out the words to copacobana!

Sure, I had one of my first slow dances and serious necking sessions to Mandy! Can't say that his music does much for me these days, but back in the day I liked some songs.

I'm a Fanilow and have said so many times. His arrangements were some of the best of the 70s. A few of his albums were just remastered in the past few months and are worth purchasing. People pretend he didn't make any good music at all, because he's his own built-in joke but when he was good he was very good.

I used to like Barry Manilow, I even went to see him in concert a couple of times. My mom and I used to listen to his music alllll the time when I still lived at home.

I was a toddler in the late seventies but I'm a Fanillow now! He's a great artist with great songs...

Manilow is great, very underrated as a piano player and writer of music. They recently re issued 3 of his cds, "One Voice" "This Ones For You" and "Barry Manilow 1" just amazing stuff, his 70's production is amazing, all of his records at that time were produced by himself and Ron Dante. I think "One Voice" album is porbably one of his best ever, i remember it was out the same time as "Glass Houses" by Billy JOel and that year of 79-80 it was pretty much just listening to those two albums nonstop, just drop the needle and listen to the whole thing, the vinyl days.

Barry Manilow made some timeless music. Im a fan of most of the songs that you guys have already listed. This thread promted me to add Mr. Manilow to my Pandora stations.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Barry. Weekend in New England, I Made It Through the Rain and Ready to Take A Chance make me tear up. But Copacabana was my jam!

Loved him then and still love those hits. All the usual: Weekend In New England, Mandy, Could It Be Magic (the shit) Daybreak, It's A Miracle, hell even American Bandstand Boogie all of the hits.

He was alright. Neil Diamond was better tho, and more manly-er.

Yeah i wouldnt compare Neil and Barry either, except for the fact that they were pretty much at the time always nominated against each other for every award, musically though i think they are very different. Another Manilow classic in my opinion is "When October Goes" this came from the "2am Paradise Cafe" album, which was Barrys jazz album from 1984, which he calls his favorite, it was loaded with Jazz greats like Sarah Vaughan,Mel Torme,Gerry Mulligan,Mundell Lowe, Buddy Rich, and for many of them it was there last recordings before passing away. Its funny how people joke about him and put him down, and yet when i see Charts posted on this site from the 70's, everyone always likes the songs that he had on that chart.

But I don't mind Manilow even if it is unfashionable to say so. I put him in the same catergory has The Carpenters; Lift music they call it. But, if all Lift Music sounds like "Rainy Mondays" and "Mandy" I don't mind.

When I was little, I had a few of his singles and a few of his albums. I still have them. "Mandy" is by far, my fave by him. Hell yeah, Barry was on fire during that period. Like Elton and Stevie, damn near everything he released was a hit.

My mom liked him and had an album or two. When us kids were young we would play her records on the big console stereo and put on shows in our front hallway and dance and sing along. Sounds pretty corny but it was the 70's and kids had to be more creative back then make their own fun.
