Stanley, Marcus, Wooten

Marcus Miller and Victor Wooten present Stanley Clarke with the Bass Player Lifetime Achievement Award...and then this. The pic says more that I could. Hopefully some of you were there. If not, there's still a day left.

It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

What's cool is that in all that talent, there's so little ego. Show was amazing...wish there were a way to fully share that experience here.

Marcus did a clinic today. The room was packed and overflowing into and down the hallway. People just stood out there trying to make out his echoes. He tells good stories...and is pretty funny, too.

Don't really have anything to share that would be of interest to this forum majority. Oh yeah...he did say lots of nice things about the Jacksons.

Sounds like a very deep experience (rimshot). disbelief

Did they perform individually as well as collectively? Who else was on the show?

You're right. I completely missed that.
Marcus solo for you. Don't share it with tA, just yet. I don't think he's ready for the full recap.

I was semi kidding because Jackson threads are so hot around these parts. Didn't think too many would be interested in this. He speaks highly of them in general, but did mention the early influence they had on him.

Someone asked about plans to work with Michael or possible plans (Some questions were harder to hear). He basically said that he would like to work with him and to take it back to being about the music instead of all that other surrounding stuff. I heard he did some of the Jackson 5 moves too, but I was still working my way into the room so I missed that part.

Bx3 (Jeff Berlin, Stu Hamm & Billy Sheehan) opened. They played individually and then together. Not sure who the guitarist was but I have to investigate that.

After accepting his award,Stanley sat down to improvise on upright...with bow. He then did a duet with Marcus & Poogie on drums. They played Confirmation. He switched to electric and Wooten joined them. They jammed on School Daze.

I'm only giving the details as you'll be able to experience it yourself here.

After two days, I'm still taking it all in.

Regret: Didn't see Victor Bailey

People to keep an eye on: Tal Wilkenfeld

That was two years ago. Anthony Jackson was presented the achievement award. They haven't posted the updates, yet.
