what do ya mean "fuck no" 4 Chic or Joe Tex?! i take in2 consideration that maybe u don't know about them so i'll break it down..... whenever u see a singer do the splits, hit a holy ghost type yelp/scream, or do anything with a mic stand, u can thank Joe Tex 4 that....'cause he along with Sam and Dave, Jackie Wilson, James Brown, and Otis Redding he pioneered the art of SHOWMANSHIP....whenever you hear queen's "another one bites the dust"(chic's "good times")... sugar hill gang's "rappers delight"....("good times") david bowie's "let's dance"....(produced by nile rodgers) any bass line of a duran duran song(bernard edwards is the REASON why jon taylor took up bass guitar)...you can thank Nile Rodgers, Bernard Edwards, and Tony Thompson because it was their 25 years of funky inventiveness that influenced it.....

BECAUSE they didnt last long ok. i never heard of them & if they ever got inducted people would be spewing

& for god sake do not induct: olivia *shit artist that can produce a hit in 25 years* newton-john, cher, samantha foxx, vanilla ice, david hasstlehoff. id rather blow my brains out than see these piece of shit inducted

Not everyone gets in. The criteria for getting in is 25 complete years since their debut and the artist had to have a meaningful impact/contribution to the music world.

Prince got in his very first year of eligibility (2004). A few people are in there twice (i.e. The Beatles and Paul McCartney, etc).

One-hit wonders and "flash-in-the-pan" acts do not get in. I highly doubt Britney would get in; there is a voting process that determines talent level and critical acclaim.

Sad to say, Cher is almost a guaranteed inductee - she has had hits in 5 decades, a successful TV variety show and a very respectable movie acting career. Please don't blow your head off!

One more thing: they don't usually induct competing/similar acts in the same year. This could be for many reasons, but I think they go for diversity during the ceremony.

For example: Prince and MJ (hypothetically of course) would not be inducted in the same year, even if they debuted on the same day.
