Natalie is a goddess! I love her 70s songs like "I've Got Love On my Mind"(1977) and "Our Love"(1978).She could get funky too,on songs like "Sophisticated Lady"(1976).You guys should read her autobiography 'Angel On My Shoulder';her life story is very interesting,to say the least.

She has a new jazz CD 'Ask A Woman Who Knows' due next month and she continues to tour regularly.

I'm a little late responding to this thread but at any rate..

1.Nat King Cole...The man The Voice. What happened to him is the same thing that happened to George Benson and now Diana Krall. He was a very proficient jazz pianist, however when he started singing, people fell in love with his voice, so Capitol records started marketing him as a singer, an elite crooner much to the dismay of jazz purists. I love listening to him sing. He will always ahve the definitive version of The Christmas Song" to me.

2.Natalie Cole...Awesome just like her father. One of the most important female vocalists of the 70's. "Inseparable" is one of the greatest songs I've ever heard..just too short. That song is classic. But my favorite song by her is "La Costa" from her 1977 album THANKFUL...oh my goodness. That song is beautiful with those sounds of the waves on the seashore. This song is a clinic on how to arrange. That whole album is great. I also love "Mr.Melody". Natalie is great and is very diverse as she can handle all kinds of music material. She is still doing good work in the field of jazz. Great thread on the Cole duo.
