I'm not so sure they got it right. The Midnight Star album is missing "Curious" and "Slow Jam."

Yeah, you're right. Those two songs can be found on this compilation:

I have that CD too,but it's flawed in many ways.It contains a lame single edit of "Freak-A-Zoid" and an unnecesary "Millenium Mix" of that song. It's also missing the single "Scientific Love",my favorite track from the 'Planetary Invasion' album. Why is it always so hard to get all the right songs on one CD? On this new compilation, they could have easily left off a few of the minor singles ("Luv U Up","Do It One More Time") and replaced them with the more popular tunes "Slow Jam" and "Curious".I swear, they oughta consult me when they're putting these compilations together, lol.

I gotta go back and get the original Shalamar albums. My favorite is the 'Friends' album from 1982.But in the meantime, this new compilation will do lol I have a previous compilation that totally sucks....one of my favorite Shamalar songs "Take That To The Bank" is represented by a lame 80s remix, which pisses me off. They also remixed several of the other tracks.I hate when they try to "modernize" classic songs from back in the day.

they could have added more on these. shalamar is missing a bunch. so is midnight star's. lakeside is good. the anniversary collection is what I have of mdnight star. there are a couple of tunes on there that i have never heard before. and it is missing several songs.

hmmm the Shalamar compilation looks complete to me.I can't think of any major singles that were left off. They even included a few singles that came after the departure of Jody Watley and Jeffrey Daniels ("My Girl Loves Me","Amnesia",etc).

The Midnight Star compilation looks complete too.I suppose they could have added "Electricity".It wasn't released as a single, but it's a popular album track that received alot of radio airplay back in the day.Still,I think this compilation is superior to the 'Anniversary Collection',a flawed compilation, imo.

Put your body in it music that was the jam.

And I used to think that "His Name Is Michael" was about MJ(considering that they were a couple, at some point).

I've got that CD also. That's not the original single because I used to have the 45 which sounds just like the album version but is edited in a few places. That CD version sounds like maybe it was remixed years later.

I like the two remixes of "Freak-A-Zoid". Those are the reason I bought the CD since I have a lot of Midnight Star's albums already. However, I only like updated remixes of old songs when they update them in a housy mood or Miami bass kind of way. When they slow the tempo down and remix them in a shit hop kind of way, then they need the hell beat out of them.

As for song choices on compilations, I don't know why they refuse to include "Electricity". That was one of their most loved jams ever.

You know what? I wish they had used the original single version of "Freak-A-Zoid" instead of that lame remix! disbelief For some reason,Solar Records does this alot on their compilations....instead of giving fans the familiar versions that they heard on the radio, they feel that they must "modernize" the songs by remixing them.I have a Shalamar compilation (released in 1993) that features a badly remixed version of "Take That To The Bank".This remix sounds like it's from the late 80s,with lots of drum machines spoiling it.For the most part,I don't really like updated remixes of old songs.Remixes don't belong on a Greatest Hits CD,imo.
