The 1st Madonna video was succesfull on TRL. But people r exaggerating the whole MTV thing. 'Call on Me' had massive airplay compared 2 for instance 'Hung Up'...people just arent fussed about the new Janet. This joint she recorded with Dr. Dre makes "Ring The Alarm" sound like a lullaby. That's what happens when your man thinks he can do it on his own. I got mad love for Janet, but JD didn't deliver." On why JD left Virgin: "He didn't deliver the goods. Promotion or whatever they wanna say ain't it. That album isn't good. I can say that cause the finished project we had before Jermaine took everything over is crazy. Ask Jimmy & Terry how they felt when Jermaine came in and changed almost everything. That's how I'm gonna end this. Ask Jimmy & Terry. " Well, Im glad somebody in the industry said. We havent heard a peep from Jam & Lewis since the first few info drops about the album. Then they just disappeared and it was all JD. I wonder what they think of the final product. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

OK, I'd agree with that if she was 15, but at 22 I'd assume she'd have grown up knowing Janet. She'd be borderline age of her adult fanbase that is expecting something more from her now anyway.

Well I'm 24 and I first remember Janet during Rhythm Nation and became a fan in 1993. I have 22 year old friends who are bigger fans than I am, and being from the UK are hardly Janet's biggest market.
Maybe we were just more into music as kids.

She's been in this industry long enough to call the shots on her own project even if her boyfriend is involved. It goes back to the Renee issue. Did Janet just leave it all up to him as well? And Sassy is right though. I gauge alot with how my kid and her friends respond to certain musicians. Janet is "moms music"...which I think is funny. I think the kids today can see janets influence on Britney and Ciara and others who have incorporated dance into their performances. I also think Janet is trying to compete vs set the bar higher. What I can give Madonna credit for nowadays is that she's doing music she wants to do. Its not all about being the "pop star" per se. This is just a different time in music. In the 80's, we didn't have an issue listening to a 40something Tina Turner and still finding her relevant. I was still listening new music by the temptations back then so just a different time. I guess

I think he is embarrased. He probably hyped up all his tracks, made Virgin agree to the album changes that included his stuff and none of the other producers Janet worked with. Now instead of eating crow, he quit.
Well he's finally out of the picture there. So maybe Virgin will pick a single instead of JD. Just watched So Excited again and when did janet feature a car in her videos. NEVER. Too much JD influence.

Never understood why that car was there anyway. It seemed out of place.
I agree that 10 is sorta young to be connecting to Janet. At 22 she might have memories of Janet, sure, but maybe not into her as consciously as someone she likes. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Too much JD influence. Talking about other producers, did she work with anyone else and that stuff just didn't make the cut? I could've sworn she was going to work with Bagge and Brigisson again? The tracks did for DJ were highlights if you ask me (however, not as great on Madonna's album, IMHO). Hopefully as you've said, maybe they will continue with the album just without JD's influence....That car threw me for a loop, too! It seemed like subliminal advertising or they somehow fucked up and put something from a totally unrelated video in there... If they made "Enjoy" a single and it hit, what a bite in the ass that would be. If "Enjoy" isn't the next single, they aren't doing their jobs right over there!

I don't think she's washed up but I think she seriously needs to go in a new direction. She's not evolving as an artist and I think people are getting tired of what she has to offer. It's boring. I agree with ya. She seems to be still stuck with the same sound. Her choice or the record company for the first single was a mistake. I do think if she came out with a different single than the one that was released, even the second single it might had made a difference. The first single is the key to the album being a hit. Sometimes even the second. I think she should change producers. It's time to stop depending on Jam & Lewis for another big album.
