This should probably be in the Associated Artists forum.
Anyway, the track was written by Morris.
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

All songs on the What Time Is It? album were written and produced by Prince, with the exception of Wild and Loose, which was written by Dez Dickerson and music by Prince.

2 other prince tunes on time albums that i consider in this vein are "chilli sauce" and "donald trump(black version)".well, you could throw another favorite,"i don't wanna leave you",on that list.

Yea well actually, that could very well be correct. For some reason I recalled that Morris wrote that track wink

I'm reading Per Nilsen's DMSR this week. I know it says Morris Day wrote it on the album notes, but it also said The Time was Vanity 6's band on their album.

Prince wrote this song.An interesting piece of trivia: Prince was gonna record "Gigoles Get Lonely Too" himself for the '1999' album...he was gonna give the Time another slow jam "International Lover" for their own album. But he changed his mind and switched things around.

Yea, I just checked the liner notes. It does indeed say that Morris wrote it. I've read DMSR too but for some reason I remembered that he had actually wrote this track and not Prince.

Exactly. I actually wrote a thread about International Lover and The Time. Definately glad P kept it for himself. What made P decide to keep it was because he heard The Time rehearsing it and it sounded so good, P was like "Oh hell no!".

Actually, I prefer Gigolo's. Ive never much liked Internatinoal Lover - too overblown and ridiculous, and always made compilations of the 1999 album that included Gigolo's Get Lonely.

Wow. Gigolo's was cool. Definately should have been a A-side single. But, I dig the shit out of International. It's one of my fave ballads from P, ever. He goes to church bigtime towards the end. And the Ohio Players double tracking he does with his vocals at the tag is bangin'.

Dont get me wrong, I do still like International Lover, but I seem to gravitate towards Gigolo's more. Its funny that I automatically thought of Gigolo's when i was thinking of stuff that could have gone onto 1999, and Prince had considered it a contender all along - Im surprised to hear that.

Now if only he'd thought to put Mutiny and Nothing Compares 2 U on Around The World In A Day!

I think the other giveaway is that Morris Day has sole writing credit listed for "777-9311". I mean, really now.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that "Gigolos Get Lonely Too" was released as an A-side single. It was the third single from their album, after "777-9311" and "The Walk".Surprisingly,it didn't do very well as a single.

It's funny though...in most Time songs,Morris is playing a pimp-like character.But in this song,he plays the whore (gigolo)...lol

That's what I heard. Sometimes those details are missed in the DMSR book.
