It's ass shakin' time......"Electricity" by Midnight Star

Instead of the boring opera-tempo shit that's all over the radio today, THIS is the kind of jam I thought we would have been doing in the 2000s. Funky, futuristic, and best of all, plenty of ass shakin' appeal.

Anyone into this one?

In late 1983,this song got alot of airplay on our local R&B station, but surprisingly,it was never actually released as a single.

I'm sure lol hard to believe, but there were only three singles released from this album:

"Freak-A-Zoid" (released in summer 1983)
"Wet My Whistle" (released in fall 1983)
"No Parking On The Dancefloor" (released in spring 1984)

Two other songs,"Electricity" and "Slow Jam",received tremendous airplay on R&B stations in 1983/84 but these tunes were never released as singles.

It's not hard to believe at all. Back in those days, the radio played many jams that weren't singles. Sure, music has always been a business but in those days, it was much more about music. DJs were free to play whatever the people in that area were feeling. In my area, every track from that album received airplay.

Yeah, back in the day, radio stations had the freedom to play whatever they wanted. They didn't have to stick with only the "singles".I remember our local R&B station (KSOL) used to play nearly every track from Prince's '1999' album.Songs like "Automatic","Lady Cab Driver" and "DMSR" were played as if they were singles.
