shake even if Elvis & Justin both stole everything they have (& I'm not saying they did) Elvis still had tons of style. Everything Justin stole still amounts to nothing.

At least he adds good songs to radio.

Though I'm not really a fan (i download his stuff), but i do like a couple of his songs though i don't find them timeless.

As for the comparison with Britney, I find it invalid

Britney can't sing whatsoever, Justin can.

Britney can't add musically to a song, justin can produce and got the talent to do his own beats vocally

Britney can do one type of singing/talking, Justin can do mid-register, head voice and falsetto

He might not be the sharpest tool in the box for some, but his existance ain't harmful

All those points deal with Vocals which he clearly has over her, but as far as anything else, i dont see the difference in what they can do, at least not at this stage in either of their careers. The respect and praise he garners for the same output is mainly since he is male and she is female, thats how the industry works.

First point POP/Rb is one word, to me that has become a new form of music, not real rb and not real Pop. I didnt say Pop or RB, the Cassie point was a broad term, but to me "Ditto" and "What do U want" are the best in that POP/Rb category.

Second for the Aaliyah debate all those albums had different people at the helm, so the growth is Aaliyahs not a producer. Had she lived she would have probably gone to the others like maybe pharrell or Moby or who knows. But for my money she really came into who she was going to be on the third record.

Three, once again the Britney/Justin point was what the oringal thread was, the Hipocracy in music, from critics to listeners to the industry itself, and the Jessica Simpson fact also comes into play here too when we look at the attention to Nick and the attention to Jessica, ones good and one is evil. People bought into the Nick thing because the public likes to take the side of the wounded brokenhearted man, which was the case with Britney and Justin too. I guess you can say that Nick and Justin played the "Pussy" card and won.

Cassie sucks. Not as badly as most people who have only heard the one song think, but she sucks nonetheless. If Cassie is pop/R&B then Justin must be as well, so is Beyonce, Ciara and so on. Ciara's latest track "Promise" kills Cassie's whole CD. Even if she were in a category all by herself, she'd suck. Those beautiful lips of hers should have a restraining order against them from every microphone in existence. In other words, the lil' b**ch can't sang.
I agree with you on the Nick Lachey point and everybody already knows Justin is a pussy. All I'm saying is that its not Timbaland's fault. Dude puts in work. I'm not a fan but I respect him being that prolific. Also, people on here mention Timbaland like he's a hip-hop producer when in fact he is an R&B producer like Darkchild. Swiss Beatz is a hip-hop producer. Scott Storch is a hip-hop producer. They all cross over but Timbaland is an R&B producer.

I disagree with your last point though, see the difference is Justin chose to go from silly Pop songs to more original/mature sound & image, while Britney went from Pop to utter trashy

It's hard to give her respect for pulling a lesbian make out stunt, calling war on Iraq a right decision, or going down the street holding a cigarrette while pregnant.

Well of course Cassie sucks, but then again if she has a good song here or there then credit has to go somewhere, the point is its hard to Hold up a few artists like Beyonce or Justin as genuises in a forum of music where its very easy to recreate it with other artists. I mean if we all were blind and played a track by Ciara or by Cassie or some other Pop/Rb girl we really couldnt tell who was who. I think that when you look at the work Tim did with Nelly Furtado and Justin, its more of a praise to Timbaland then either of those two, i mean if it were other artists besides Nelly and Justin it would have been just as acceptable, i dont think either showed me growth in their talents at all.

Ok so there is the double standard right there, Justins move can be called a "move to more mature music" where hers is viewed as slutty. Ok so Justin in bed with some chick in SexyBack is ok but its not Ok if Britney is doing it with some guy.

As far as giving her respect well, at least she owned up to her stunt, when he bailed on his stunt and blamed it on the JAnet Jackson, as far as her political views, who really cares what she has to say and her cigarette while pregnant is dumb but his rants about drug use in interviews to make him look cool and grown up are childish.

you made good points there (Justin's superbowl), but you can tell ever since he chose to come clean and give a better image of himself, while Britney didn't no a single thing that proves evolving into something better.

but to be more clear on the more mature point,

Justin focused more on doing music that could be heard by adults as much as teens, but Britney, what did she do? She is still marketing herself as sex symbol which isn't going to last considering she doesn't at least got the proper voice to back her up.

And it's not double standars either trust me. Proof to that is Aguilera for instance, as bitchy as she could market her image, the troube she makes up by attacking/provoking another artists, she is still at least trying to make proper music (wether we like that music or not) which makes up for 1st part.

Nudity can't be a factor for a female artist not to be respected as long as she is taking her music career seriously and trying to impress as much people as she could.

I just feel that Justin bailed on Janet, not to stick up for her because she made it seem like it was an accident, but he distanced himself from her very quickly to avoid backlash which she to this day still receives which is partly her fault. Aguilera to me is great but then again she isnt, she is very calculated and changes the same way Madonna does. To me it will be interesting to see what Aguilera does next, since i feel alot of people bailed on her "retro/classic" sound, im hoping she will stay true to herself and not just do something to sell again. But to defend Britney alot of females use sex to sell, Nelly Furtado lets be honest, had it not been for Sexier look what would have happend. I know she lost alot of respect from people the same way Jewel did when she did her dance/pop sexy image. For someone like a Britney she is limited to things because of her vocals, but there are alot of female icons who cant sing, also Britney did open the door that let all these artists in and actually have a chance. So just like the Beatles started the British invasion and Nirvana/Pearl Jam started grunge, Britney started the whole teen pop thing that gave us Aguilera,Simpson,Timberlake etc., I think once person people always forget is Mandy Moore, probably the most talented of all of these, at least musically.

Excatly. Let's face it....We always try to diminish the role of women in music by heavily implying even when they do get a songwriting credit that it was a gift or something underhanded happened for that to occur.

eek Britney Spears started the whole teen pop thing? That's some interesting revisionist history. The Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC were already pretty popular when Britney's first CD debuted.

How do you define "teen pop"? Because Michael Jackson, Donny Osmond and Leif-frickin-Garrett might have something to say about that.

Yeah, though she was released 6-8 months after Nsync's first record and Backstreets, she was the one the blew the doors off, she was the one that debuted at number 1, the first Nysnc was doing nothing, they were mainly riding on the Backstreet Boys and even 98 degrees, but Britney was the one that put it on the map, "the whole Max Martin Movement". Its like when the Beatles started the British Invasion, they were the ones that blew the doors open, though there were british bands here already.

I have to disagree, slightly. Elvis may have looked off of someone's SAT scores to get into school, but he acquitted himself pretty well. He could sing, he could dance, he could play, he could entertain, he could write songs. He's got too much of a record to attribute it ALL to thievery.

Justin essentially is pantomiming, but he's the face of a pretty good product, for what it is. I like Justified.
