MESHELL: playing LIVE THIS weekend (California)...new EP too!

You lucky Californians get a chance to hear my favorite (Meshell Ndegeocello) work it out live on stage this weekend...my only request for you is that if you go post back about your experience so's i can live vicariously through you...here are the details...

Santa Monica California: Saturday Oct 21, 8pm
Temple Bar

Santa Monica California: Saturday Oct 21, 11:30pm
Temple Bar

San Francisco, California: Sunday Oct 22 7pm:
California Regency Center Ballroom as part of the San Francisco Jazz Festival

not 100% sure which band of hers it will be but i'm guessing its her latest crew of talented folks named "A Different Girl Every Night"...so i suggest you catch at least one of these shows (if i had to pick just one to go to i'd go for the 11:30 Temple Bar gig because she often likes to stretch out her arrangements and experiment live and theres just more time for her to do that when she doesn't have a time limit...so hit the late show if ya can)

ALSO...

Meshell has a new EP available for preorder outside the US! (right now you can only order it as an Import if you live in the states).
Her full length release will follow at some point but i haven't seen any official dates for that yet so i'm definitely gonna get this EP from France to tide me over.

BTW...all of this info (including links to get tickets/venue info/buy the ep) is available at http://www.freemyheart.com (the longest running most comprehensive Meshell site in the world, hands down)

and you may also wanna check out Meshells myspace page too, another goldmine full of meshell goodies including many video clips from live Meshell shows old and new!...

http://www.myspace.com/of...degeocello

enjoy!

i'm completley jealous, and you're very welcome.

remember the deal though...ya go, ya gotta post back about it with some details...since i probably won't get to catch one of her shows until she comes back to the states after her tour overseas (after these last three Cali shows in the US its looking like she's heading over to Europe to tour for most of the rest of this year...sad for me smile for Europeans...

so American music lovers, be sure to catch her NOW if you are able to...here's your chance...

I got some street-team work to do over at HOB LA nthat night, but if I can catch the early show crowd going out and the late show crowd coming in, itll justify running over to Santa Monica.

If I make it, I'll be the guy handing out yellow handbills for Blu Sirkut http://blusirkut.com/.

* Dana Hawkins, drums
* Gilmar Gomes, percussion
* Sy Smith, back vocals

the band she's been playing with at most recent dates isn't really what most people would consider 'jazz'...so if thats your concern, i wouldn't worry about not being a jazz fan because chances are she and the crew will be funking & rocking soulfully with a variety of flavors from in your face to cosmic space...

if that early Rome show from back in May is ANY indication of what they are shooting for then anyone attending will be in for a treat.

(btw which upcoming gig is in your hometown? Even if its one of the 'Jazzfests' you can still be sure she'll play some of every style in her repertoire...at past Jazzfests she's known for bringing it all to the table...funk, rock, soul, jazz, reggae, cosmic improvisation...)

don't believe me? Check out a few clips from various Jazzfests over the years at her myspace site...

She's playing in a small jazz club in Vienna, Austria. So it's not a jazzfest, but a jazz club. Thank you for your advice hug, I will watch the videos you suggested nod.
