Artists with poor breath control ruin songs!

After getting into marilyn manson over the lsat couple of weeks i've noticed how poor his breathe control is. He's out of breath on nearly every song and you can hear his heavy breathing WHICH IS DAMN ANNOYING AND SPOILS THE SONGS.

You're an idiot. If you bought a Marilyn Manson record and you expected to hear a beautiful singing voice, you're an idiot. Go buy a Celine Dion record if that's what you want. If Manson's voice WAS beautiful and trained, it would take away from the music and the message he's trying to get across. Listen to the lyrics then tell me that his voice doesn't work.

Marilyn Manson is actually very intelligent and creative in his own right, lyrically, and the band's music kicks ass (I may be a 15-year-old saying this but since I don't listen to this kind of stuff to "emo" or "poseur" out to, I think I know what I'm saying).

Same with NIN. Trent Reznor's lyrics may sound like teenage goth poetry but they work because they're so raw and human, and the guy's musical sensibilities were seemingly endless once upon a time, so I dig NIN a great deal.

I thought this might be an interesting post about the annoying habit of singers (usually R'n'B ones) breathing in the middle of a word (like "to" - "morrow"). Unfortunately not.

oh rufus wainwright does stuff like that all the time. big sloppy breathes right in the middle of a phrase neutral i always felt the problem with most "r and b" singers these days is that they really can't sing at all so it's just over dramatic emoting and such.

maybe it's just me.

Actually, excellent breath control can be annoying, too.

I remember listening to Julie Andrews singing Camelot or My Fair Lady or some other musical. She's an excellent singer and this was from her prime, but her breathing was so regular & audible on the recording that it was impossible to ignore.

I bet Marilyn uses some processing that makes him sound more breathy & spooky

i understnd what you mean about too much breathe control. i would rather hear some one who sings too precisely than i would the other tho. wink

I never even noticed it, I just loved the album.

However I was walking through the store the other day, and they were playing Santana's "The Game Of Love" which I can't stand because Michelle Branch yodles out every verse in that song.
