In the NME he said it was Bonzo, plus he repeated it at a talk he gave about his book. Tell you what - wait for the new edition of The Dark Stuff, which is due out this year or next. Then you can read about what a great set of guys Bonzo was.

And here's what you wrote:

I commented on the other thread, but it's locked now. I personally have a hard time believing any of this. I will admit I am a huge Paul fan, so that may make me seem biased. His fame and status aside, my questions is, if Heather was being so abused for so long, why didn't she leave him earlier? Why didn't she take her defenseless baby, and get out of that situation? Not to mention, family friends made comments saying that Paul was getting walked on by Heather, that she was rude and aggressive to him. Why would all of this be surfacing now, months after the separation?

Mingus, Miles, Marvin, Hendrix, James and Jackie are all pretty much dead cert geniuses in my book.

The rest are/were either hugely talented (Moon, Bonham, Lennon, Slash) but no way near the genius category (i.e: constantly innovated and took their respective genres into whole new areas), or utter fucking shite (R Kelly, Jay Z, the two dead fat rappers) who occasionally and very accidentally turn/turned out a decent song or three.

And he forgot 2Pac and Phil Spector wink

Well, you know, had he continued making atom-splitting albums like Plastic Ono Band and wonderful, wonderful songs like Instant Karma, I would have a shrine to him in my front room, but he didn't. His output tailed off quite sharply - in my opinion - after Imagine. Those subsequent albums were good, but not great. Actually, it's pretty symptomatic of all The Beatles' solo albulms - strong starts, sharp declines. And yes, even Ringo has made bad albums. lol

falloff

Well, Lennon's work from '64 through to '71 is what made him a genius, imo.
Most artists hit a creative brick wall in the end.

Are Stevie Wonder and Prince now less worthy of being termed 'genius' just because they fail to live up to past standards?

No, all artists hit a bad patch. See Bob Dylan. The creative life is glorious and short. Lennon needed McCartney and vice versa, I think. They reined each other in.

Stevie and Prince remain innovators first and foremost. Innovators never repeat themselves. Neither has made the same album twice, even lately, when they're far from their best. Lennon was cruising after Imagine. He wrote some cracking songs, but I don't think he came close to making anything like Plastic Ono Band or Imagine again.

Ah. We'll have to agree to disagree, then. I think Prince has been coasting for a long while now. Even the much lauded Rainbow Children didn't offer anything new. His last great work was The Truth as far as I'm concerened. Stevie's most recent album was healthier than he'd been in a long while, but he'd still done it all before. And better.

you must be kidding!
Axl rose has wrote some of the greatest songs in the last two decades. He is a good piano player, producer and great song writer; GENIUS!
Bonham is the greatest druumer EVER; he may of been joking when he bent over the women, he apparantly said'i;m gonna take her from behind'. He bacame an alcoholic on the road and was supposed to be 100% different when with his family and sober.
R.kelly is a genius; listen to his catalogue. That's why EVERYONE wants to work with him from britney, ja rule, isley bro's MJ, tyrese, omarion, m houston, snoop dogg e.t.c
Slash is phenomenal on the guitar; he is a genius!
Moon was amazing and i have never heard anyone say different

Are you serious that John Bonham was a better then drummers like Jerome Brailey, Sly Dunbar, Dennis Chambers, Mitch Mitchell, Tony Williams, Al Foster and Tiki Fulwood.

Bonham was a very good drummer, but technically not a great drummer.

Happy to have a friendly disagreement with you, and you're right that The Truth is an (unsung) near masterpiece. That said, NPGSoul may have its many detractors, but I think three of its songs are among the best he's ever written - Wasted Kisses (his darkest, creepiest song), Come On (virtually the last "sex" song he wrote) and The One. Rave Un2/Rave In2 had its moments (and a glorious one in Beautiful Strange). The internet only albums are mostly fantastic - Chocolate Invasion, Slaughterhouse and especially Xpectation, which was everything SNOOZE wasn't. As for The Rainbow Children, I think it's his last great album to date. Post-Xpectation he has been coasting though, I agree. His last three albums have been dull by his standards.

I think he was a great rock drummer, but he wasn't a Keith Moon or a Ginger Baker. And he never had Charlie Watts' chops either. And he wasn't even as imaginative as Topper Headon.

And let's not even start comparing him to jazz drummers ....

yes jay z;
We used to fight for building blocks
Now we fight for blocks with buildings that make a killing
The closest of friends when we first started
But grew apart as the money grew, and soon grew black-hearted
Thinkin back when we first learned to use rubbers
He never learned so in turn I'm kidnappin his baby's mother
My hand around her collar, feeding her cheese
She said the taste of dollars was shitty so I fed her fifties
About his whereabouts I wasn't convinced
So I kept feedin her money 'til her shit started to make sense
Who could ever foresee, we used to stay up all night at slumber parties
Now I'm tryin to rock this bitch to sleep
All the years we were real close
Now I see his fears through her tears
Know she's wishin we were still close
Don't cry, it is to be
In time, I'll take away your miseries and make 'em mine, D'Evils...

While I'm watchin every nigga watchin me closely
my shit is butter for the bread they wanna toast me
I keep my head, both of them where they supposed to be
Hoes'll get you sidetracked then clap from closed feet
I don't sleep, I'm tired, I feel wired like codeine, these days
a brother gotta admire from four fiends away
My pain wish it was quick to see, from sellin 'caine
til brains was fried to a fricaisse, can't lie
At the time it never bothered me, at the bar
gettin my thug on properly, my squad and me
lack of respect for authority, laughin hard
Happy to be escapin poverty, however brief
I know this game got valleys and peaks, expectation
for dips, four percent pertation we stack chips, hardly
The youth I used to be, soon to see a mill'in
No more, Big Willie my game has grown prefer you call me William
Illin for revenues, Rayful Edmond like
Channel 7 news, round seven jewels, hand dead in the mic
Forgettin all I ever knew, convenient amnesia
I suggest you call my lawyer, I know the procedure
Lock my body can't trap my mind, easily
explain why we adapt to crime
I'd rather die enormous than live dormant that's how we on it
Live at the main event, I bet a trip to Maui on it
Presidential suites my resedential for the weekend
Confidentially speakin in codes since I sense you peekin
The INXS rental, don't be fooled my game is mental
We both out of town dog, what you tryin to get into?
Viva, Las Vegas, see ya, later at the crap tables
meet me by the one that starts a G up
This way no fraud Willie's present gambling they re-up
And we can have a pleasant time, sippin margaritas
Ge-ge-geyeahhh, can I live?
Can I live?

Since my date of birth
bought you nothing but hurt
play those video games
stole change from ya purse
Sat on the cold court bench
'til I was arraigned in ya skirt
Saw the pain in ya face
through you maintained a smirk
All you did was motivate me
don't let 'em hold you back
What I do I turned around
and I sold you crack
I was a bastard for that
still I'm drowning in shame
Just remember one thing now
you're not to blame
You was newly seperated
tryin' to escape ya world
and through my thirst
I didn't help you
I just made things worse
I hated me and everybody
that created crack
Had me thinkin'
the newest kicks and the latest gat
Still haven't apologized
so please play this back
while I try to come to terms
with such a heinous act
you know in more than one way
cocaine numbs the brain
All I did was think about
how the funds once came
then I ran across this memory
and it stung the brain
How can you ever destroy the beauty
from which one came
That's a savage you're the reason
why me and these beats make a marriage
why I rhyme above average and
I ain't shit
Glad you got yourself together
no thanks to me
Strong and beautiful the way thangs should be
You must love me

Chorus (K. Price) (You must love me repeats in background)
Say that you love me
All I know say that you must love me.
Ohh yeah

Verse 2
We used to fight every night
but I never would suffer
just smile my big brother's
tryna make me tougher
As we grew fussing and fighting continued
as I plundered through ya stuff
and snuck ya clothes to school
Got intense real intense
as we got older
Never believed it would lead
to be popped in one of ya shoulda
With my rings knew you had it
'cause you took too long
as Mickey, Andy, and the girl that bought it looked on
Huffin' and puffin' gun in my hand
told you step outside
Hoping you said no but you hurt my pride
made our way down the steps
maybe you thought it was just a threat
or maybe ya life was just that crazy
and you was beggin' for death
try to justify this in my young mind
but ya drillin' it
and my ego hurt combined
drove me berzerk
Saw the devil in your eyes
high off more than weed
confused I just closed
my young eyes and squeezed
What a sound
opened my eyes just in time
to see ya stumbling to the ground
Damn what the fuck I done now
runnin' around in a circle
thinking I'm assed out
hot gun burnin' my waist
ran straight to Jazz' house
Like a stranger damn I just shot my nigga
and ran off into the night as if it was not my nigga
Left the scene how could I go out that way
Still you asked to see me in the hospital ya next day
You must love me.

Aiyyo, stand forward, 'fore you take notice
or witness to me killin the track
Testify 'til me spillin the smack
Now they got me for traffickin, racketeerin, audio crack
{Hook:} They call me Dope Man, Dope Man
I try to tell em I'm where hope, floats man
Ghetto spokes-man
A broke man, approachin the bench with intent
to bury me under the cell, fingered me as the toast man
Evidence stemmin from ninety-six
They say the world ain't recovered from his fix
While they was usin cut I was on some other shit
Gave it to you raw and they just discovered it
Nowaday, the jury got they brow raised
Listenin to testimony about my foul ways
Exhibit A: "Reasonable Doubt"
They say this was the first thing that turned the peoples out

[MTV] You can feel the tension building here
as an unprecedented number of people have turned out
for what may be the "Trial of the Century"
{Hook}

[Jay-Z]
How come, you label your brand of dope
"Volume 1" and spread it through the slums?
Fed it to the young with total disregard
Your honor, the State seeks the maximum charge
And how could you, turn right around
and release a lethal dosage called "Volume 2"
And is true you operate the criminal enterprise
known as Roc-a-Fella in charge of his meteoric rise?
And do you deny you're responsible for the demise
of record execs, and do you object?
Your distribution's Polygram, and through your connects
Def Jam, you pushed over five million SoundScan
And not to mention, your co-horts and henchmen
Dame, Biggs, Lyor, Kev' and Russell Simmons
And we ain't gon' talk about Murder, Inc.
That just establishes a darker deeper criminal link

gettin my thug on properly, my squad and me
lack of respect for authority, laughin hard
Happy to be escapin poverty, however brief
I know this game got valleys and peaks, expectation
for dips, four percent pertation we stack chips, hardly
The youth I used to be, soon to see a mill'in
No more, Big Willie my game has grown prefer you call me William
Illin for revenues, Rayful Edmond like
Channel 7 news, round seven jewels, hand dead in the mic
Forgettin all I ever knew, convenient amnesia
I suggest you call my lawyer, I know the procedure
Lock my body can't trap my mind, easily
explain why we adapt to crime
I'd rather die enormous than live dormant that's how we on it
Live at the main event, I bet a trip to Maui on it
Presidential suites my resedential for the weekend
Confidentially speakin in codes since I sense you peekin
The INXS rental, don't be fooled my game is mental
We both out of town dog, what you tryin to get into?
Viva, Las Vegas, see ya, later at the crap tables
meet me by the one that starts a G up
This way no fraud Willie's present gambling they re-up
And we can have a pleasant time, sippin margaritas
Ge-ge-geyeahhh, can I live?
Can I live?

Since my date of birth
bought you nothing but hurt
play those video games
stole change from ya purse
Sat on the cold court bench
'til I was arraigned in ya skirt
Saw the pain in ya face
through you maintained a smirk
All you did was motivate me
don't let 'em hold you back
What I do I turned around
and I sold you crack
I was a bastard for that
still I'm drowning in shame
Just remember one thing now
you're not to blame
You was newly seperated
tryin' to escape ya world
and through my thirst
I didn't help you
I just made things worse
I hated me and everybody
that created crack
Had me thinkin'
the newest kicks and the latest gat
Still haven't apologized
so please play this back
while I try to come to terms
with such a heinous act
you know in more than one way
cocaine numbs the brain
All I did was think about
how the funds once came
then I ran across this memory
and it stung the brain
How can you ever destroy the beauty
from which one came
That's a savage you're the reason
why me and these beats make a marriage
why I rhyme above average and
I ain't shit
Glad you got yourself together
no thanks to me
Strong and beautiful the way thangs should be
You must love me

Chorus (K. Price) (You must love me repeats in background)
Say that you love me
All I know say that you must love me.
Ohh yeah

Verse 2
We used to fight every night
but I never would suffer
just smile my big brother's
tryna make me tougher
As we grew fussing and fighting continued
as I plundered through ya stuff
and snuck ya clothes to school
Got intense real intense
as we got older
Never believed it would lead
to be popped in one of ya shoulda
With my rings knew you had it
'cause you took too long
as Mickey, Andy, and the girl that bought it looked on
Huffin' and puffin' gun in my hand
told you step outside
Hoping you said no but you hurt my pride
made our way down the steps
maybe you thought it was just a threat
or maybe ya life was just that crazy
and you was beggin' for death
try to justify this in my young mind
but ya drillin' it
and my ego hurt combined
drove me berzerk
Saw the devil in your eyes
high off more than weed
confused I just closed
my young eyes and squeezed
What a sound
opened my eyes just in time
to see ya stumbling to the ground
Damn what the fuck I done now
runnin' around in a circle
thinking I'm assed out
hot gun burnin' my waist
ran straight to Jazz' house
Like a stranger damn I just shot my nigga
and ran off into the night as if it was not my nigga
Left the scene how could I go out that way
Still you asked to see me in the hospital ya next day
You must love me.

Aiyyo, stand forward, 'fore you take notice
or witness to me killin the track
Testify 'til me spillin the smack
Now they got me for traffickin, racketeerin, audio crack
{Hook:} They call me Dope Man, Dope Man
I try to tell em I'm where hope, floats man
Ghetto spokes-man
A broke man, approachin the bench with intent
to bury me under the cell, fingered me as the toast man
Evidence stemmin from ninety-six
They say the world ain't recovered from his fix
While they was usin cut I was on some other shit
Gave it to you raw and they just discovered it
Nowaday, the jury got they brow raised
Listenin to testimony about my foul ways
Exhibit A: "Reasonable Doubt"
They say this was the first thing that turned the peoples out

[MTV] You can feel the tension building here
as an unprecedented number of people have turned out
for what may be the "Trial of the Century"
{Hook}

Self-referenrial crap that says nothing to you about your life. You call that "genius"? lol lol lol Jay Z is, always has been, and always will be a poor man's Puff Dick Diddler. Who isn't a genius either, by the way.

There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

he might not have had a clue what he was doing; e.g when ozzy tried to murder his wife.
still dissapointing to know; zeppelin rule and i don;t really feel comfortable listening to rapists; what about you, what are your thought, are you a zep fan?

I don't mind them at all. You can abhor the artist while loving his art. See R Kelly ....

You still haven't shown any articles/links to back up your bonham accusations; they do not seem to be on the net which is very unusual for these sorts of things.
