Does anyone else think Tony Rich's boring? After the third listen to Tony Rich's Pictures album, I gave up on him. He is very poetic and he takes himself seriously, but he doesn't really give it his all. Has anyone of you felt the same way?

You know, I actually LOVED Tony Rich's PICTURES CD...I think he messed up by allowing Babyface to produce his first hit....that kinda left a lasting impression on people but I think Tony is talented and I do enjoy his latest CD..

I thought this site held Tony on high regard(For having the ol' Princey bag), guess I was wrong. Not that fimiliar with his work(other than the stuff he produced) so don't know what I'm missing.

Agreed with the latest album. Way too mid-tempo. I have always been a big Tony Rich fan, but was dissapointed with this one. Much better song writer.. I Sit Away by Boyz II Men is one of his best songs....

i've always been a big fan of Tony Rich's from the beginning! Resurrected was an AWESOME album too!! great craftsmanship!! but Pictures . . . not so good. i was TRULY disappointed. it had no depth - no spark . . . i'm still hoping for another album from him though!!!
i hear a bit of him in Justin T.'s new stuff - especially on "Losing My Way". music is its own reward - Sting

Is there any1 here who was in the house at Intermezzo's in Detroit back in 1996 when Prince, Tony Rich, and Stevie Wonder held that historic jam session? I would love to hear from u.

I bought his album solely for "nobody knows". I still dig that song, but the rest was bland as hell. I think he is secretly Babyface

The three times I listened to Pictures, it left me with this dry and empty feeling. Ugh! Thats when I said to myself this one goes to the "to be sold" box. What's odd is that the first time I listened to it at Borders he didn't sound that bad, but now he does.

Maybe he is a great producer. Reminds me of my experience with Van Hunt. Van has produced a few good songs for Rahsaan Patterson, but as a singer he stinks.

Not as boring as John Legend or India. irks me....opps....I meant Irie. Couldn't agree more with you, shorttrini. John Legend and India Irie are a notch more boring. And to think that both of them were receiving some much attention from the radio stations and the TV channels. Publicity and visbility can be deceiving.
