I got his new single (at least I assume it's a new single) from Itunes) called "Kiss Me" and I really like it. I think they might be selling the album online there even if his American label doesn't.

Yes, I think one of the reviews mentioned something along the lines that Rudebox would be delivered digitally in the States. I'm surprised they're using Kiss Me as a lead off single vs Lovelight here in the US but any exposure is good exposure for him at this point and it is a free download this week.

I'm not sure if it's the single or not...It's just what's available right now. It's pretty good but are you saying "Lovelight" is better? I neve cared for Williams but this song, teamed up with working with PSB...might be good. I'll listen to samples before I buy it.

Well, iTunes identifies it as a "single" so I assume, at least in the digital medium, that's what it is - though they may identify any individually packaged song as a single.

I, personally, think Lovelight is an amazing song... It's starts out rather like a standard electronica/pop track and winds up sounding more like the soul disco era.

I love Lewis Taylor's song Lovelight which is from his fantastic album Stoned Part 1. I am yet to hear Williams version. But covering this song suggest he has some taste.

His cover of World Party's She's The One was basically a Karoke version so I'd be interested to hear his version of Lovelight.

Hopefully it will bring the Criminally igorned talent of Lewis Taylor some exposure.

His album sales are fairly average on a worldwide scale. His biggest selling album is 6 million worldwide, and lot's of pop stars have sold that amont.

Lots of artists have the benefit of US releases and marketing, too.

In the UK, IIRC, RW has sold more albums than anyone else so far this century. He's, also, in the Guinness Book of World Records for having sold something like 1.5 million concert tickets in a single day.

Is it? I think RW's output is getting more interesting the older he gets, but even when it's great it's a mixed bag. I'm *surprised* he hasn't done better in the US but I'm, also, a tad surprised that he does so well elsewhere. His music releases have been distinctly odd since Swing When You're Winning.

Just out of interest, I've noticed a sound glitch 2:29 into 'The 80s'. Is it just my CD or is it a glitch on the master recording?

That's okay then. Won't have to return it to the wrecka stow.

Incidentally, I'm not a huge fan of Robbie, but love this CD. I liked the 'Rudebox' song enormously and so thought I'd give the album a go and it's quite impressive. I think it'll be one of those albums that in time will be considered one of his best.

I'm surprise on how much I've listened to it. Guess my original review has changed a lot. My favorite tracks now are:

Lovelight
Bongo Bong/Je Ne T'Aime Plus
She's Madonna
The Actor (fabulous!)
We're The Pet Shop Boys
The 80's

I'm shocked, but Rudebox is a very very good album.

Although I didn't mind the first single, I was expecting Robbies "Techno" album to suck almost as much as his last one.

I gave it two spins and I loved it! I'm not so keen on the covers of Kiss me and Louise (which sounds like its recorded on an old casio), but the rest is really enjoyable.

I hate to say it, but this is one of the best albums of the year.

I agree about Louise... I, also, skip Keep on.

Agreed again! I think it's the strongest album he's ever released. Still getting lots of play here.
