Dio, the best metal singer?

As a singer this guy is just fucking awesome! I'm listening to "Buried Alive" off Black Sabbath's 92 Dehumanizer album. Man that song is exactly what Dio Sabbath should of been about doom\gloom AS WELL AS hard rocking. I'm a not huge fan of his tunes but his voice is just so... metal. Power, venom, range as well as a really sweat clean sound as well... he's got it all. I even enjoy listening to him talk in between songs on concert cds!
My fav Tracks by him are:
SABBATH
Heaven & Hell
Buried Alive
I
After All (the dead)
Letters from Earth
War Pigs (Live)
Iron Man (Live)

DIO
Straight through the Heart (Absolute hands down favourite track) headbang
Holy Diver
Egypt (the Chains are on)
Jesus, Mary and the Holy Ghost
Evilution
Rock & Roll

It's such a shame his time with Sabbath didn't work out and how it ended, both times. First time Iommi accussed him and Vinnie Appice of sneeking into the recording studio to mix themselves higher on the Live Evil album no no no! Him and Vinnie quit out of protest. Then he quit the second time cause Iommi wanted Sabbath to play as openers for Ozzy on his last two shows. Dio suspected (rightly so) that it was a ploy to reunite the original Sabbath and didn't feel they should open for anyone least of all someone the band fired.
My dream scenario would of been if after the original Sabbath couldn't reunite after LiveAid they had worked out their differences and reunited before Dio's own band lost their momentum. Also this would of stopped the pointless eventual reunion of Ozzy and Sabbath, the guy can't even talk anymore let alone sing . Even in his prime he couldn't hold a candle to Dio now, in his 60's!
Oh yeah Dio also came up with the 'metal' or 'horns' hand gesture, is shockingly short, keeps his age a secret (He's been rocking since the 50's!) and has always had a terrible hair style cause of a car accident in his youth scarring his scalp!
He's quite a character and a singer... anyone agree?

Ronnie James is Great ! but, I think Bon Scott may be another choice to look at. I thought Brian did a great job in the replacement seat as well.

Yes! I loved Dio in my metal days! LOL.

I just added "Holy Diver", "Rainbow In The Dark", "Last In Line" and a few others to my ipod.

Bon Scott isn't really impressive to me at all.
I like Halford a lot more now than I used to, his voice has certainly gotten meaner over the years. I think in his younger days he tried to wow people with his range to make up for the thin quality his voice had. Like I said though that's not really the case any more. His falsetto screech on the Rising in the East show on Painkiller sounds positively demonic.
Chris Cornell is good on record but his live peformances sound like a different singer almost. I was really dissapointed the first time I heard an Audioslave bootleg.
Dio though always had it all, I was surprised when I read he never had any training accept for breath control as child learning trumpet. He always made his singing sound easy, his live performances in his peak were identical quality wise to the studio. He's been slipping a bit the last decade but hey the guy's in his 60's and growling and screaming better than everyone else on the metal scene I've heard.

Rowdy

Dio is great, as evidenced by this performance with Rainbow cool

Joe Lynn Turner had a great voice too, despite looking like a ladyboy

Bruce Dickinson and Phil Anselmo (think Cemetary Gates style Pantera) are also high on the list.
