OMG!!! It's Almost The 34th Anniversary Of Stevie's 1972 Classic, Talking Book

I can't believe it's been 34 years since Stevie Wonder released his 17th record, Talking Book, on October 27th, 1972. It's certainly been a long time since then, but the grooves and moods of the Talking Book record is still going strong every day. What can I say that hasn't been said about Talking Book? It is the best "crossover" record of all-time and it is one of Stevie's greatest achievements. This was the one that proved Stevie was certainly not that 12-year old genius everyone thought of him back in the 1960's. He was still a genius, but he was much more wiser, soulful, funky, and rawer. He had already released an album in 1972 prior to the Talking Book record and he called it Music Of My Mind, which was an album that showcased his early experiments with the synthesizer and was his first assured record ever since he left behind his 60's image, But there was something different about Talking Book. It was his true declaration of independence from the being a Motown hit-maker of the 60's to now having artistic freedom, being a gifted, all-around 20-something musician, songwriter, arranger, and composer. Who thought that he was going to be huge after this funky mother of an album was released? He went on to release 3 more classic monumental records of the 70's and they all won Grammies! Heck, this one even went multi-platinum, so that says something! Thanks, Stevie...

What do you all think of this album and it's 34th anniversary?

and for the record, "Talking Book" is my favorite Stevie album!!

Yeah add Ribbon In The Sky to that list also. I love Talking Book... A picture perfect moment for not only Stevie and rock-pop history, but for Motown too!

Perfect album. The man didn't make one wrong move from Talking Book to SITKOL. I wish he released music at the same rate he did back in those days. He seems to be over-thinking his music too much these days.
