Anyway, it's hard to pick 5, but here goes: 1. Led Zeppelin 2. Prince 3. Pulp and/or Jarvis Cocker 4. The Beatles 5. Hendrix Hell, I can't pick just 5!  What about The Smiths? And Joni? And Funkadelic? And Jeff Buckley? And Steely Dan? And T. Rex? And Otis?

How do you know what people are reading, and what they're not?  Just because they don't respond with a post to each and every orgers' list, doesn't mean they didn't read it.
And are you kidding me about that smart alec bit? Who is the "smart alec" when your contributions to this thread have been...

It saddened me to see Sly at the Grammys with what looked to be osteoperosis, or something like it. Honorable Mention - Stevie Wonder. If I hadn't loved the others so much, he'd be up there.
