this album is one of her best... i would say in her top 3 or 4 albums... its an album i would recommend to any janet fan... I expected the album to sound bad like DJ... but when i listened to it... I was shocked... it actually sounded great... so until you bought janet's album and listen to each song... you have NO RIGHT TO BASH HER ALBUM... otherwise your just being mean. if the first 2 singles are crap, why would anyone want to buy it? and my problem isn't even the lackluster album. i mean, i'm used to that, 3 times in a row now. what i'm unhappy about is the style of music it is as opposed to all the hype that it was to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Control, and the way she's promoting herself (with her tits again). I can't get enough of her tits. Look, if she had released the album and stayed covered up no one would have noticed her - especially me. Her tits should get a recording contract. AND I even forgot to mention the brilliant R&B Junkie in my last post. Take out Moist, Warmth, the insipid My Baby, Island Life and Just A Little While and DJ is a very solid album... OK, so half a solid album. Still more than I can say for 20 YO. I just can;t get my head around anyone calling Enjoy or Daybreak "classic Janet" [Edited 10/19/06 5:38am] Isn't Moist just so fucking embarassing? Is Moist just so fucking embarassing? You're feelin' in it You're ticklin' it You're swimming in it You're gonna get it I'm insatiable And it's all your fault So much lust involved To get me off My water falls Your sexuality (breeds) A storm inside of me (seas) A touch is all I need To make me scream Obscenities Every time you whisper in my ear I get aroused You begin to slowly unbutton my blouse Kissing on my skin my heart's racing now I want you boy Caught up in the waves of passion up and down Love the way you movin?my body all around Boy you 'bout to make the rain come down Chorus Feel my rain come Pouring soaking Longing your lips Baby ooh You make it so moist When my ocean's overflowing Afterglowing Take me oooh You make me so moist Orgasmic Row it just like that Hope you like drowning in it You won't have a life jacket My thirst is quenched Ooh baby we're so drenched Our body's rhythms are So cataclysmic Got me twisted Feeling your anatomy breaking me down Sucking on my (mmm) with ice in your mouth Hurry and undress me take me right now I'm wet for you boy Caught up in the waves of passion up and down Love the way you movin?my body all around Boy you know you make the rain come down You know how to make my rain come down Chorus 4x You're feelin' in it You're ticklin' it You're swimming in it You're gonna get it Moist

I think what ruined her album was Call on Me,. I have had several conversations with folks, even Janet fans, and no one really loved the song, they didn't hate it, but the song was nothing write home about.
Now in terms of trying to attract a pop/younger audience, the song, With U, has the best chance to grab a wider demographic. Enjoy, is the single that us Janet fans love. Perhaps she can release both; lord knows she needs to, have a B side or something like that. The main video could be With U...and then towards the end, they could switch to Enjoy. That way they R promoting both singles...this needs to be done immediately. The only problem is that most record companies stop promoting an album after the first single, let alone the second single, especially if the album didn't push enough units. Janet mey have to dig into Jermaine's pocket (and he's got plenty of cash) to make this happen...it looks like Virgin is done with her.

What ruined 20 YO were a). most of the songs, which are crap and b). all of the production, which is by the numbers interchangeable r n b fare you can hear anywhere. Janet went from being unique to a obsolete. It's Janet's last album for Virgin. DJ didn't do particulartly well and 20 YO has flopped worldwide (and underperformed in the US), plus her gnome svengali-lover-cult leader is already badmouthing the company while the album's corpse is still warm, so Virgin are hardly likely to perform corporate Cpu on it. They're gonna let it bleed and die. Expect a greatest hits early next year. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Moist is ridiculous. Kind of song to wear in a downpour because it will keep you dry. i think damita jo is a strong record. i skip more tracks on janet and all for you than i do on damita jo. Janet's a great album. Did you hear it when it first came out? It was really something - akin to that "Whoah! Who's SHE?!!!!" feeling you get whenever you see a beautiful woman walk into a room (or whatever raises your flag). She was ahead of her time then and everyone followed suit. She tried to remake Janet on Damita Jo from the title to the cover (yup, half naked in jeans, covering your tits - got it, J) to the contents, and, for the most part, it just didn't work out. A lot of the songs were desperate attempts at reclaiming lost ground. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. I haven't hear the album yet but I was disappointed by "Call on Me" but I really like "So Excited.
So I am going to see where I can hear her album before I make my judgement on it. But I agreed what folks said that JD should have less involvement with the album. One of her biggest mistakes is trying to promote her album to the same audience who viewed her old enough to be their grandmother.

I think the janet album is a marker because it was Janet with the new look, body and hair and the lead single TTWLG was just mature and sexy. A smooth mellow undeniable groove without being overtly sexual. I thought she would continue to make music along those lines. okay okay okay okay okay... I admit that I liked the melody and arrangment of Moist. There. I've confessed. HOWEVER, the lyrics were atrocious. When I really understood what she was saying it ruined it for me. Knowing it was probably about Dupri made it even worse. Now I can't listen to it without tasting a little bile in the back of my throat.
Besides, moist is one of those irritating words like nougat or panache. Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

LIKE I SAID... IF YOU DIDNT BUY THE ALBUM..... THEN DONT MAKE ANY COMMENTS ABOUT IT... BECAUSE WHATEVER NEGATIVE THING YOU HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THE ALBUM.. YOU HAVE NOT EVEN HEARD... IS IRRELIVANT...
DAMTA JO in my opinion was a bunch of hip hop crap... crammed with annoying rappers.. on the album 20 Y.O. sounds like classic janet... i dont understand how can you like the velvet rope and the Janet album... but not like 20 Y.O>.... when 20. Y.O. sounds like the classic 90's janet.... With U, Do it @ Me and Take Care sounds like classic janet if you dont like this album 20 Y.O.... then im assuming you never liked janet's previous works.... NOw all of a sudden everyone is on here claiming they like DAmita jo.... after janets new 20 Y.O album came out.... but before her new album came out... Everyone was bashing Damita jo... its like with janet.... (in the words of her brother MIchael jackson), "you can't win"... YOu guys never give janet a break.... and when janet finally goes back to her roots with this album...you guys still want to complain.. if she did a Damita jo part two... you still would be complaining...
