From this to THIS

It's always wonderful to watch the evolution of an artist/band. Here are a couple of freshman/sophomore efforts where I really went eek eek eek....This is the same group?

Goldfrapp:

Both sophomore efforts were grand departures from the first album clapping clapping clapping What sophomore (or even junior/senior) albums kicked your ass?

Anx

when neneh cherry's "homebrew" came out, it totally caught me by surprise and kicked my butt. i just thought she was some hip-hop top 40 floozie who'd be a one-hit wonder, then she came out with an album that was part alternative, part hip-hop, part folk, part just about everything. and she was singing about stuff like being a mom and teaching kids sex education in schools. i totally fell in love with that album, and it's still one of my faves.

OK, this actually was a freshman effort but I still was like this eek eek eek eek

This is that annoying zany kooky chick from "A Different World". I saw it in the bargain bin for $1.99 once and was bored and bought it out of kicks to get a good laugh. I was shocked that it was so great! biggrin Seriously, I have bought it full price twice in the last few years to make sure I had it in my collection.

I'd take these:

and

funny enough, for me it worked worked the other way around.....when 'Slanted....' came out, I couldn't listen to it, I thought it was a mess.....Then 'Crooked Rain....' came out and I was immediately hooked! After a while it made me check out 'Slanted....' again and came to see why it was one of the greatest rock albums of the 90's!
