Guys, Our Days to enjoying Our Beloved YouTube are NUMBERED!!!! The two kids who started it just sold it to Google for $1.6 BILLION DOLLARS yesterday, and they have a slew of new liscensing agreements from advertisers and record labels which ( as of yet) we're not sure of how will affect the content and all of the secret video goodies we've loved to share with each other in the past year...As much as I'm happy for those kids for sitting on top of all that dough now, realistically, let's just say goodbye to all of the coolness that made YouTube one of our favorite video outlets to hang .

I know! Now it's just going to become another pre-programed corporate entity that has no variety or depth or fun things for us to watch . They've been making the announcement on CNN (Hong Kong) all nite long for the stock market and business news All of those graet vintage and rare videos are going straight into some secret archive I would bet for us to never see them again....wait...did I already do this: ???

Are we sure the ALL the videos in the site will be shelved? No, Mamacita. Didn't mean to imply that at all. Basically I'm just moaning because I know there are going to be some amazing videos of concert performances removed...Basically I'm just being a nostalgic selfish old fool who doesn't want a lot of old skool concerts removed from the touch of my fingertips

Even if it happens, it just means another site will open, there is another site (forget the name) that is similar, i listened to some radio interviews on it. I bet in a few months there will be several new ones. YOUTUBE is the napster of its kind, the first but most def not the last.

i bet after a few months we will have to pay 99 cents to see concert footage or forced to subscribe to the site for 9.99 a month.... I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

1.6 billion dollars? How long has youtube existed? Damn the dumb shit! I need to come up with an idea for a kickass website!!!
Sadly though, I have to go with the consensus here and say that it was great while it lasted. We all know that once the big money players get involved with our good times, the good times are soon to be over. We'll be left with only our memories and a lousy shell of what used to be. Well, at least until the next good thing comes along!

Don't worry another one will pop up soon.

There's already a thread in GD on this, which is kind of more appropriate, because YouTube also had movies, and other non music related material as well.
