Interesting, I read a thing from Michael Anthony on metal-sludge.com saying they were trying to get a reunion tour going but crazy Dave's ego just wouldn't let him do it:

"..I mean even if you just wanted to look at it purely look at it from a money standpoint that guy was hurting for money. And it was like Dave, I mean he couldn't even put his ego aside if he wanted to go out and make $50 million and you know you've got a pretty large ego when you're going to give that all up even just because you don't get your way on something. I couldn't understand it."

I'm convinced Michael Anthony is the only sane member of VH

What's Dave's issue? They fucked up big time when Sammy left and Dave didn't come back. He recorded a couple of songs, surely everyone was expecting it. It's a little too late now, he's just too old.
I wish Dave had learnt to sing... it was the only thing missing and would of helped him as his other strengths faded with age.

Anyone see his embarrasing Zydeco cover of "Jump" on Leno??

They hail from So-Cali and as a kid I was way into them in the late 70s. Never did get to see them in the early days, but lots of my friends did and loved them

I like both Roth and Hagar, and while the tour with Cherone was not that bad (from what I remember of it ), it was still a step below Roth and Hagar.

Not much of a song but it's just a mean, lean rock machine burning up. I love right before the solo where Roth directs Ed, "Light 'em up!"

I hated it when Dave left but I have 2 admit after a while I just bought everything Vh did.
F.U.C.K. was a great album,the music was fresh and really good.

Now,years later,it's clear that the original Vh stood the test of time,while the second Vh was a hit machine...

Van Halen was THE BAND back in the day! Though I like Hagar, Dave was the man back then. He and the band was all about having fun. With Hagar, they went a little too serious. Cherone? To this day, I've never heard anything he did with the band. Guess that says it all. Drop Dead Legs is playing on my pc right now..

Van Halen w/Roth is one of my all time fave bands EVER. I saw Halen live on the "Diver Down" and "5150" tours out here in L.A. I don't know about anywhere else, but out here in So. Cal, VH were HUGE! I STILL blast early VH in my car today. Alex is a very underrated drummer.

Hagar was just here in Norcal giving props to the Airmen on our base. Not too many voices like his (w/ the exception of Chris Cornell). Both versions of bands were good but different, like Metallica before the Load album and Metallica with the Load album.

I bought the Sacred Sin DVD and its ok but I'd rather hear the unreleased tracks
they did with dave.

VH hust wasn't the same with Sammy. They lost all their cool & humor.

Amazing, they probably all know this, but they're all too insane to be in a room or even onstage together.

I dont remmber how many they did, Dave said they were as powerful as the first lp.

Dave may be a bit in insane but he was unquestionably the lifeblood of Van Halen. Not many bands can carry the banner "Juggernaut" but during the DLR years - hell yes. They were like an assault force, albeit one that partied an awful lot.

That said, Roth kinda needed Eddie to do it too. He made money when he was with Steve Vai, but in my estimation Vai is more about notes and technicality than raw power and passion. Eat 'em & Smile wasn't half bad but it seemed a little dry. The EVH clones he picked for later stuff just kinda stunk.

Dave and Eddie need each other.

I doubt Vai was any kind creative force behind Eat Em & Smile, but was rather just a flashy guitar player for hire. If he'd been allowed to write songs, they'd have been way too weird for Dave anyway!
