I really and honestly truly agree with this Its funny, most of the people who hate on Macca, or crticise his cutsie pop music, have never even heard this song. IMO its perfect in every way, from its melody to its lyrics to his vocal delivery. If you could label it with one criticism its the production of the studio version, but in many ways this only adds to its charm. | |

Ever hear The Fall's -urm - de(con)struction of Day In A Life? Up there with Sinatra spitting out Mrs Robinson like it was tabasco marinated shit. Good choice with Jet though. Band on the Run's the only Wings album I can listen to without reaching for my AK47 and drive-by byeing byeing my stereo in the blessed name of Elvis. Sergeant Pepper Knew My Father! I know that album all too well. I bought it solely for the Fall's version, though there were a few other keepers on that record. Perhaps I shouldn't admit this, but I've always had a soft spot for the Wedding Present, and I thought their run through Getting Better was good fun.  Yeesh to whoever thought Wet Wet Wet belonged on that album, though.
I have no doubt that MES would peg me as a total sissy and that most of my taste in music would make him sick. He'd be OK with the Can, Neu and Faust, I'm sure, but he'd be sickened by the abundance of effete, pasty indie-rock. [Edited 10/7/06 8:35am] | |
