Julian Lennon "Photograph Smile" the best work never done by a solo Beatle

I just revisited this Amazing, Indie label release, and it never grows old and dating. This coming 8 years after Lennon left WEA and just stopped doing music because he saw the way it worked. Then formed his own label, and put together a band of some old friends and did possibly the best work of any Beatle solo. I know thats a big statement but its at least in the running when you look at alot of their solo work. On this record Julian came to terms with the fact that he sounded like John and dealt with it, but not really caring because he cant change the way he sounds. Lennon now 44 (believe it or not) is readying another project for release once again through his own channels of distribution, in the meantime you might catch Julian going to Auctions trying to by back things of his DAD that have been put up for sale by guess who??

Oooooo Thanks for the update. I really love Julian. He's very, very talented.

Julian seems like such a nice guy... and is just really into creating music on his terms. Love him.

Not really, i was saying it would be in the ranks with the best of their solo work clearly outdoing alot of their solo work. I would put it into an "Imagine" class, not for the meaning that record had to the world but what that record was to John. It would also be up there with McCartneys shining moments, of Flaming Pie,McCarnteyI, and Chaos, and for George well i would rank it up with "All Things". Its amazing though sometimes how Julian is not respected as clearly being talented, hes sometimes viewed as an 80's one hit wonder, very sad.

well.. he was.. he doesn't have anymore hits, so i would assume calling that is correct, but being called that doesn't mean you dont make great music.

check your a-ha band on that statement

Well a-Ha would be considered a US one-hit wonder, Julian would also be a US one hit wonder, but US doesnt dictate "wonders" thank god. As far as that 80's label, in terms of the USA i think its not a positive thing, even though i think every band or solo artist today that is considered a genius is basically just rehashing something from the 80's. Outside the US its not a crime to be an artist from the 80's, its actually quite respectful.

Not taking away from artists or bands, but to say the influence and the stamps of the 80's arent all over certain bands.....I mean "The Killers" may be a good band, but original?

Since when is Julian a solo Beatle?

Here's me thinking the solo Beatles were John, Paul, George and Ringo.

Turns out Julian must've been in the band the whole time! lol
