These are all good recommendation, but I realized... dancerella likes alot of new wave and electronic beats, so maybe we could recommend some mid-80s rap that's more drum machine driven.

Yes, CC that's what i'm talking about! I would love something old skool with some kinda new wave/ electro beats. Should I check out Mantronix?? How about Man Parrish? I heard that's another good one. Thanks so much!

It is the quintessential East Coast hip-hop album.

Since you're looking for CDs, anything by by The Egyptian Lover, Run DMC, or Whodini....artists that actually made albums. However, the best stuff is available only on 12 Inches. Also pick up "Street Jams: Electric Funk" volumes 1-4. There are a lot of jams on those that you will only find on 12 Inches.

Actually, after consulting The Breaks myself I know the answer biggrin The beat comes courtesy of The Honeydrippers (not the Robert Plant group) song, Impreach the President.

"Impeach The President" was a popular breakbeat to extend during live shows for years previous, but I think the first person to maximize the sampling technology and use the drums would have been Marley Marl.. on MC Shan's "The Bridge". geek

I liked how Paul C (pray r.i.p.) used it on "Do The James" by Super Lover Cee & Casanova Rud.

Did you know the "Top Billin" pattern was actually a mistake? They were trying to get it to loop properly and that's how their programming came out. lol
