Jesse Johnson & Sly Stone- How'd That Happen?

Does anyone know how Jesse hooked up with Sly? I ask because I was thinking last night about how, over the last 30 years or so, many have tried to bring Sly out of retirement, no matter how brief, on stage and/or on wax. With that said, how did Jesse get Sly to appear on the record and video and get himself cleaned up for that brief period?

I could be wrong, but I don't think he was nearly the hermit he is now -- back when "Crazay" came out.

Shucks, I wish something similar would happen again. Something has to erase his sad Grammy appearance from my mind.

They were both signed to A&M records at the time and the label hooked it up. I'm sure Jesse wanted to work with Sly when he heard that they were label mates.

Jesse was a huge fan of sly and A&M had sly signed to the label.
Sly had a funky track on the soul man soundtrack called eekobastatic
automatic. He also done a track for the burgular around 86-87.
Crazay was one of jesse's better tracks during his short solo career.
Jesse was the shit man. I wonder if some of sly's habits rubbed off on
jesse because after jesse 3rd album and jump for it on the white
men can't jump soundtrack and a brief reunion with the time, he became
a bit of a hermit himself.

I remember an interview with Jesse Johnson from 1986.He explained how he got Sly Stone to sing the song with him.He told John McClain (the big record executive at A&M Records) that "If you can get Sly to sing with me,I'll let you be the executive producer of my album".McClain had no trouble tracking down Sly.

Notably, around this time,it was rumored that Prince was trying to reach Sly to offer him some songs to record, but Sly wasn't interested.

From what I hear he has a new record coming out, it is supposed to be much like Bare My Naked Soul.

I understand that there were rumours of how Jesse was upset that Sly was getting
more camera-time than he should in the video. He felt he was being up-stagged ?
