Hot Chip Release Over and Over and Over and Over From www.hotchip.co.uk
"Hello, We have a 'new' single coming out on October 9th. It's called 'Over and Over', and for those of you who are unfamiliar with it, it is a song about the joy of repetition. It is deemed to be our biggest club banger to date. Some people across the world go crazy when they hear it played by us. We have released it before on the hard-to-find 'Barbarian EP', which people fought over (because it was only produced in small quantities), and on the not-so hard-to-find 'Over and Over' single - on 12", 7", CD, US maxi CD, DFA 12", and download. (It has, of course, also been available for about a year and a half for free by way of illegal download, on the www. But luckily no one uses that anymore.) But forget all of that, this time around it features an amazing array of new remixes, which may force home the joy of repetition, and some new material produced and performed by Hot Chip. Also there is a live 'in-session' version of the song, which is a bit faster and more menacing. Plus, to some people, 'Over and Over' will actually be a NEW song. This mail is perhaps directed at YOU. Others, leave the cynicism aside, and dive back into our hot kitchen of love. We discovered that if you play the song 'Over and Over' over and over again, you never get bored. But also, if you play the song 'Over and Over' backwards - you'd need the 12" or 7" formats for this, ideally - it spells out the words "Get up, get up, get up, get up, let's make love tonight. I'm hot just like an oven, I need some loving." We decided that this freaky coincidence could only mean one thing - we must attempt a cover version of Marvin Gaye's 'Sexual Healing'. And like no mans but maybe Paul Young before us, we have succeeded in covering a Marvin Gaye song. I'll let you be the judge of it's quality when you march out to the shops and buy it. The third anniversary of 'Over and Over' also includes a wonderful song called 'Grubbs', which is about you lot. Don't take offense. And Bookashade's remix of '(Just Like We) Breakdown' as well as the Mock and Toof version of 'Over and Over', which you will go silly over. And then there's the Maurice Fulton remix which the boys over at DFA have dubbed their favourite remix of Hot Chip since the ones that they did. The first person to spot the number of uses of the word 'over' in this news item and myspace us with the numerical answer, will receive a free copy of a cover version of the Smiths' classic 'Paint a Vulgar Picture' which i will record as and when is necessary. Maybe later it will be reissued and repackaged. This paragraph may not be true, but please don't hesitate to help the Hot Chip cause come October 9th." So run and get it folks!!
