Still pretty awesome sextonseven, I must say.

It took me years and lots of $$$, but I'm happy. As for non-Paisley Park CDs, I have a pretty good pirate of Vanity 6. I tried several times to find an authentic copy, but there are so many fakes floating around (especially on ebay), I think I've given up on that one.

This is the band from which a few cats played as houseband on almost every recorded track from the classic hip-hop label Sugar Hill .
This was their 2nd and hardest 2find album on the SH-label , recorded after a 4-year hiatus .

Care to expand on that?

I have lots of 'rare' albums, but they're really only rare because most people couldn't be bothered to listen to them. Though I was a fairly hard-core vinyl buyer through most of my twenties to the extent my collection pretty much took over my living space, I only own two collectables:

PiL's Metal Box (on vinyl, of course) probably doesn't even qualify as a true rarity - I've seen a few copies float around the dingy backwater where I live, so it's out there to be found if one has the initiative. My copy has only been played twice and the canister is in perfect shape.

I also own a Japanese boxed set of the first six Clash singles on 45 7" vinyl that's never been played. I have no idea what this is worth, but I paid $60.00 for it back in '89 and I've kept it in perfect shape.

Got Metal Box on vinyl in metal too. Blasts like a beast. Albatross in particular. It's the Moby Dick of post-punk albums abd the greatest thing Lydon ever did. Recently bought the vinyl reissue as well. Cost me £45.00 from HMV, Oxford Street. Sounds even better.

I think the same thing happened to me. I collected because I was that into the whole listening to lp's not to get that involved in them, but because I wanted to see if there were any other good grooves on them.. I have some --I think they are rare james brown or the label I believe is king records but are 78's. ( and boy are they sensitive to breakage)

Agreed - amazing sounding album, it doesn't just play when you have it on, it has a physical presence. It takes over the room

absolutely agreed.

I wonder what Jah Wobble is doing with himself these days? Or Keith Levene, for that matter...

Oh sure, it's widely available on cd - in fact, there's actually a metal box cd release with an approximation of the original packaging, but if you're not inclined to blow all that money for the cannister, there's a no-frills release to be found under the title "second edition." I have a copy of this release too, and it's a perfectly acceptable alternative IMO.
