"They Don't Care About Us", MJ best work as a producer?

I'm now ripping the only 2 MJ albums I bough (Off the wall and HIStory)

Yes, I believe so!

This song is timeless...I dare to say: PERFECT!

cool

I gotta go with SIM. Did he produce Earth Song? That song is amazing.

Yes, written and produced alone.

I guess we can say that MJ really needs to produce his new album...alone!

Who agrees with me?

I've always felt that SIM and ES was some of his strongest material. The arrangement of ES is really a masterpiece IMO and the video has the most powerful imagery.

I really think non-fans forget those efforts or that can't see it for the greatness that it is because it was done by Michael Jackson.

That's why I love HIStory so much. TDCAU, Stranger Is Moscow, MONEY(!), Little Susie, etc. Gorgeous production, all done alone. He did two thirds of the album by himself and they were all the best tracks.

I don't know how anyone can put that up against the noisy clinky clunky Invincible and say the prefer the latter.

Agreed. Although "Childhood" sucks.

I love "This Time Around." I don't think he produced that one on his own tho.

I agree. The songs I liked on Invincible were either (co-)written and or produced by others and as much as I love those songs, I'm not sure that they felt like Michael. Not necessarily a bad thing but History is his MJ's blood, sweat and tears.

Even though there were songs I didn't care for on HIStory. They were his songs, his expression. The songs you mentioned alone carries HIStory levels above Invincible.

Yep. That was a co-production with Dallas Austin.

Shit, he only did 2 songs by himself on Invincible and they were flawed (Speechless and The Lost Children). Ugh, nice melodies but syrupy schmaltz. It may have some great cuts like YRMW< Butterflies, Whatever Happens and Heaven Can Wait, but there's nothing he's put his heart and soul into.

I'm not expecting much better in the future.

God Dallas and MJ should work together again! I love Dallas...he can't do anything wrong except "Just A Little While"

I didn't care for that song either. Dallas doesn't need to have his moniker stamped on everything he does and he's pretty diverse. Wouldn't mind another MJ collabo myself.

Earth Song wasn't produced alone - this was done with David Foster & Bill Bottrell

"Childhood" is a song that he should've did when he was about 12 years old. And it would STILL suck.

....especially if the original lyrics are included. THIS is Michael Jackson as a gangsta singer.

Sad to say but I feel the exact same way. I'm really not excited for this new album at all, and if it's going to be anything like Invincible I'd really prefer him to not release anything at all.

I would absolutely love another History sounding record or Blood on the dancefloor type tracks. To me that's some of the best work Michael has ever done.

Whew, I HAVE to listen to HIStory again.

There IS some great stuff on there. I can understand if people don't like Earth Song for example, as it just isn't for everyone, but every now and then, it just rocks.

He did less than half the album alone. lol

And History is just one rant after another. It becomes a drag very quickly, that's why some of us prefer Invincible. wink
